I'm a retail customer of MS 365, not in any special program that I know of.

    You're running a preview build.

Updated MS 365 with today's fixes via an "online repair". Software level now 20056 ... 16.0.17830.20056 in full. This problem still exists.

Just to throw this in the mix, I have 2 PCs, Win11 Pro (current updates) and both Office Pro 2021 Version 2406 (Build 17726.20160).

So, doing manual update check on desktop PC throws the Update error code 30088-27 BUT it works on my backup laptop. ???

I realize that waiting for MS fix (whenever) is really the best option at this point.

but they all show the older version if you click the About button. Haven't figured that one out yet.

It's not the older version. It's always been like this, the single apps show an older version number than the number shown without clicking any button. That's not a problem. Sometimes the two numbers (Single App number and Suite number) were the same but it was a rare thing.
