Update error code 30088-27 Office 2021 what to do to get corrected????

I have Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2021, Microsoft® Word 2021 MSO (Version 2406 Build 16.0.17726.20078) 64-bit, Microsoft® Outlook® 2021 MSO (Version 2406 Build 16.0.17726.20078) 64-bit, etc. and it will no longer update: Error code: 30088-27. It used to update. I tried running Modify at the App & Features system setting level, and it simply uninstalls Office! Or uninstalls Office and hangs, not fixing anything. I had to reinstall it myself. Ugh. No more updates for Office anymore. I guess that Microsoft is doing this to make us rent their monthly rental version? But does that update anymore?

Did you try the Online Repair? I have used that to update the software, but, so far, it hasn't fixed the problem.

Is there any solution in this thread which works for anyone? Or anyplace else? Are we SOL?

In a small office of Windows 11 and 10 machines running MSOffice 2016 and 2021.

6 machines at 2406.17726.20126. Of these 6 only 4 can update to 2406.17726.20160.

2 machines fail with error 30088-27. One is Windows 11- Office 2021, one is Windows 10- Office 2016.

The common factor in both machines that failed: the users always "double check" Office updates by doing them twice. Thats when the error first occured.

I just got this from the support guy I have been working with:

1. Issue possibly related to latest Office release Version 2406 (Build 17726.20126)
2. Based on screenshot, Office client is already in the latest build, no update required. (Error on error - should have been retuning or giving  that your Office is already up to date)
3. We suggest downloading the previous version and turn OFF automatic updates until the next Office release.

I think I'm just going to leave it on the latest version as there is no indication that the security updates have been compromised and Office is otherwise working fine. When the other machines update, if this one doesn't, I will do an Online Repair and see what happens.
