Hey Prius...RELAX A LITTLE. I know from your posts you are really upset, but try to remain civil if you can. Just wanted to let people who may have not tried this that it may be worth a try. You may be right, MS will have to release a fix for the bulk of those affected but in the interim WAIT AND TRY TO RELAX!! I too have clients who want answers, but this forum is to help everyone, not just I.T pros.

Prius didnt say anything that wasn't civil. In fact, your post seemed to come out of left field with that response. Seems you're a bit too defensive that someone is tired of seeing people post the same thing over and over for 29 pages. Prius is correct. Anyone that wants to try your way can read 29 pages and see it over and over. It will either work or it wont. It doesnt help to keep making this thread longer and longer though when it's been said numerous times it doesnt work for everyone. He also has every right to be p*ssed because it has been months and MS seems to be under the impression there is no problem so this will most likely end up being a long time in having to deal with this.

I ran the same update and there was no fix for me either.

Note that this version is not yet listed on the Microsoft versions page. (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/officeupdates/update-history-office-2019)

If you just want to update you can manually run the following command on an admin command prompt where x = the version you want. No need to pay for Avast Premium.

    "C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\ClickToRun\officec2rclient.exe" /update user updatetoversion=xx.x.xxxxx.xxxxx

This doesnt solve the underlying issue though.

Finally, trust me if Microsoft were not going to support look and feel and any longer they would 100% shut down the ability from all avenues. Level 3 support is probably the only one that might give you a correct answer and probably wont be based overseas like the first two. Fingers crossed, but I really cant believe that a company can grow so big that they refuse to admit to making a mistake.

Microsoft Level 3 support is also outsourced to Asia and is also unrelated to Microsoft and its software engineers.

When my Office 2016 issues were finally sent to Level 3 they were confirmed as bugs. The staff at Level 3 were unable to escalate to Microsoft for resolution. The most these staff can do is try to show the user what they are doing wrong or find a work-around. When they confirm a bug in the product all they can do is close the case as unfixable. (At least that is what they told me when I highlighted real product bugs.)

I would not be holding out any hope for a solution from Microsoft Level 3 Support. :(
