I agree with you 100%, except the part about upgrading. After all, I've been running MS 365 for the last several years and that's a subscription service I pay for annually. Thus, there is no version for me to upgrade to.

I mean, you'd think they'd be Johnny-on-the-spot when it comes to fixing errors in a product that is dependent upon users renewing their subscriptions.

You might be using the 365 subscription version, but not everyone is. Like many others, I prefer, and have, the perpetual license version. For what the subscription version costs per year, that's equal to purchasing 1-2 (or more, depending on discount pricing) perpetual license versions...and, since most people who purchase a perpetual license version tend to only upgrade once every 3-5 years, in the end, we are paying WAY less. At the lowest-priced level, subscribers pay either $500 for five years (up to 6 users, install on up to 5 computers), or $350 (single user, up to 5 computers). At retail pricing, one can purchase the perpetual license version for $250 (direct from MS). Even better, through discounters, it can be purchased for less than $100. So, where is the "advantage" of going with the subscription version? Honestly, I see that as a waste of money. Truth-be-told, with any software where I have a choice between a 'perpetual' license, and a 'subscription', I will (almost) always go for the perpetual license version.

Ian, the problems with Microsoft are nothing new. I was forced to Microsoft kicking and screaming when it modified its software for no reason other than to prevent it from working on OS/2.

I did have the early Windows programs and they suffered from the same issues. When Windows 1.3 came out, it wouldn't work with my Epson printer. I contacted support and they told me that I needed to get a generic printer (how much more generic can you get than Epson?). I had several other ink-jet printers at the office, but none of them would work properly. They then told me that all of my printers were defective and had to be replaced to work with Windows. I told them that it was easier and cheaper to replace Windows.

Six months later, I received a general mailing from MS talking about the new printer drivers that corrected problems with the Epson devices. By then, my Windows floppy disks were being used as drink coasters and I was running Desqview full time, moving on to OS/2.

    Still the same mindset.

You can share the zipped file with me and I'll send it back to my contact in the Office team.

Excuse me if I'm being rude here, but "share them with you"??

We don't even know who you are. Ostensibly, you're a "Volunteer Moderator" which, I take it, means you don't actually work for Microsoft.

That's not a good thing as we need a real Microsoft tech to examine the files and/or read through this thread to try to further a resolution.

Sorry, but I'm not sharing sensitive files with anyone other than an employee of the company and I have NO IDEA WHY someone who actually WORKS FOR MICROSOFT can't respond to this thread.

I mean, WHAT IS THIS JOINT? No one from Microsoft sees anything posted here? If not, what's the point?

This problem was created by Microsoft and only Microsoft can fix this. I am not about to waste my time and jump through hoops for them to try and solve this problem for something THEY broke. I will wait for MS to remedy this as they are aware of this problem and they are working on it.

    Respectfully,

    Don,

Whether you want to help is of course your choice.

You are right as it is my choice and my choice is not to help as I do not send any zipped files from my computer to anyone to be shared with some contact that I do not know. The MS Office Team should and probably already knows about this and exactly what the problem is and are working on it. My question is when will MS respond to this thread and let all of us users know what is going on and when we can expect a fix.

    Respectfully,

As I mentioned somewhere, we have been "working" with a M365 support agent for a while. I just replied to his latest non-sense, ridiculous e-mail ......

That is precisely what is aggravating about the current scenario; the support personnel do nothing more than copy and paste canned responses which not only have no chance of actually working but result in a complete waste of users' time.

You can probably take a wild guess as to where in the world MSFT support is located.
