Why does the "Restart Office to apply privacy settings" not go away even after i have closed all office products, restarted them i have even restarted PC and still every time i open an office priduct i have this same issue?

Restarted multiple times in different applications, rebooted PC still same error

    aghhhhh - same for me , error has returned :(

    Mine is still okay...fingers crossed.

    A question for you: for me, the error first appeared after I'd restarted my PC for the first time in several weeks. I should also point out that I have my PC set to never sleep or hibernate (due to an MS issue that causes it to shut down instead of sleep/hibernate).

    Have you re-started your computer since you did the fix? Is that when the error came back? Or did it just start happening again?

    It certainly would be nice if MS could figure this out. If there are more than two dozen complaints about the error here, you can be sure there are many more people putting up with the same issue.

    This has suddenly appeared. I made no changes and restart does not cure it. Neither does 'fiddling' with the privacy settings as I have no idea what I am doing, This is beyond annoying.

    I tried all of the methods and tried the command line fix and it worked for my Word document.

    Then I got the same error when I loaded Excel.

    I did the same fix for Excel as Word.

    It seems to have worked.

    Now it is July 12 and the issue has returned.

    Okay...I restarted my PC just now, and the stupid "restart to apply privacy settings" or whatever it is message is back.

    C'mon, Microsoft...get your sh*t together on this!!!

    MS 365 is not the only office suite in town, and others are much, much less expensive.

    C'mon, Microsoft...get your sh*t together on this!!!

    MS 365 is not the only office suite in town, and others are much, much less expensive.

    Same issue here - This annoying privacy setting message has returned! And to my amazement it has returned after an update to Windows!

    So, once again I did the rollback using Tracy's advice earlier in this thread, and this message disappeared again. But are we going to repeat this process each time the computer restarts or installs any sort of update?...
