Hi. I had some folders shared from different users in my OneDrive account. I had added the folders to my OneDrive with Add Shortcut to OneDrive button from Shared folders in cloud. The account is logged into a windows pc and every files including the folders shared with my were syncing fine until yesterday. Yesterday night the shared folders were completely removed from the Windows pc and folders are replaced with internet shortcut. This is such a big mess. I have tried unlinking the account and linking it back, changing the location of OneDrive on my windows pc and tried to get a new folder shared to my account and adding it to OneDrive. Nothing works so far. OneDrive has a big part in my daily activities. Please help me resolve this.

Here is the statement from the Microsoft OneDrive product group (Redmond USA) about the OneDrive Personal problem:

***This is related to a backend migration we are doing and unfortunately, we don’t fully support syncing shared folders in the case where one user has migrated and the other has not. We’re doing everything possible to accelerate things so that it can be resolved as soon as possible for users of the feature. When the accounts are migrated, there is automated logic that makes them go back to a syncing folder within several days.***I have heard, that shared Folder issue is gone.
The best thing is: WAIT and do nothing

Can you share with us, what is the status of the migration?

    Is it 50% 80% 99%?

Would you be so kind to ask your good friend?

Is it possible that your friend could somehow contact the OneDrive team, to make a statement about this process?

    People are demanding the status.

Thank you very much for you help.

Knowing the overall percentage migration does not help you in the slightest. They didn't start everyone the same day, there are new people coming here saying they have just been affected and there are people here saying they were affected and it's now fixed, but when they were first affected and how long it took appears to be different for everyone.

I'm the owner of a number of shares, one of the people I share a folder with was migrated early March, another one a few weeks later and I'm still stuck on V1.

So given we have no idea when they start, no idea how long it takes, we have no idea when it will be finished.

The owner and the share and the person accessing the share all need to be a V2. (how you check a share and a user for V1 or V2 has been detailed many times here).

    Your choices are:

    • Sit and wait

    OR

    • move to another file sharing app

    OR

    • create yourself a new account (it will get created as a V2 account, then copy all the files from the V1 owner to a V2 user via a non-OneDrive storage space)

None of these options are pleasant/easy/quick, I chose the last option, it works fine so far, but it's a lot of work to get there.

Woke up to a OneDrive warning message on my phone that lots of files were deleted over night. Thought this might be Microsoft's way of telling me that I finally am being moved to join the rest of my family who are under my account and were moved months ago. Indeed the settings menu has changed, no longer ends in search. That is a sign of something having been changed in the background, like an extra black cat in the matrix. And a lot of synchronizing is going. Wonder how long it will take to have a few hundred gig be in the same place.

Posted somewhere far above on 8th April by MW... Number 1 is what I have been using on the web OneDrive page.

There are three ways to check if an account has been migrated to V2

    1. Options has no search
    2. Selecting an image in a folder no longer has an option to set it as the folder's cover
    3. Open developer tools
