Hi. I had some folders shared from different users in my OneDrive account. I had added the folders to my OneDrive with Add Shortcut to OneDrive button from Shared folders in cloud. The account is logged into a windows pc and every files including the folders shared with my were syncing fine until yesterday. Yesterday night the shared folders were completely removed from the Windows pc and folders are replaced with internet shortcut. This is such a big mess. I have tried unlinking the account and linking it back, changing the location of OneDrive on my windows pc and tried to get a new folder shared to my account and adding it to OneDrive. Nothing works so far. OneDrive has a big part in my daily activities. Please help me resolve this.

Here is the statement from the Microsoft OneDrive product group (Redmond USA) about the OneDrive Personal problem:

***This is related to a backend migration we are doing and unfortunately, we don’t fully support syncing shared folders in the case where one user has migrated and the other has not. We’re doing everything possible to accelerate things so that it can be resolved as soon as possible for users of the feature. When the accounts are migrated, there is automated logic that makes them go back to a syncing folder within several days.***I have heard, that shared Folder issue is gone.
The best thing is: WAIT and do nothing

This story has wings. My son works for a regional airlines as a data analyst. Suddenly, last year he was forced to use the web version of the Office Suite. He told the IT guy something was amiss but got no satisfaction.

He doesn't tolerate change well when productivity is lost. So he brought his laptop to work, tethered it to his phone and accessed his files in the Office apps just like he was doing at home. He told his boss something was screwy. What do you think the boss did? Yep, he brought in his laptop. I guess they don't like to confront the IT guy.

So months later. when it happened to me - the family tech guy - I was amazed to learn about this migration problem; affecting both commercial and family users of OneDrive.

If someone is writing a book about this, you have my permission to include this story.

Not related. This migration is affecting OneDrive and 365 Apps. This would have been a licensing change as I assume they are using a business license and not family. This migration is not affecting OneDrive for Business.

    Thanks for your input.
This is a Microsoft 365 Family account having the same Onedrive sharing problem where files / directories become links and can only be accessed through the browser.
It is coincidental that the recent licencing issue (which was in the post that I was answering) also happened to me.
This just also highlights the strange problems we all seem to have with Microsoft Office 365.
I have had the directory / internet link problem from the start and was one of the first ones to post the problem.
A consultant from Microsoft acknowledged the problem (on the group) a few weeks later saying that Microsoft knew of the problem and that it was being fixed.
After that it all feedback from Microsoft went dark.
Microsoft have not been forthcoming with an explanation or keeping the users updated.
It is only this week that I found out by reading group posts that it is a migration issue from Ver 1 to Ver 2 which should come right with time.
It has been extremely stressful and frustrating to both myself and my customers to have no feedback for almost 10 months from Microsoft and not being able to talk to anyone on the support desk.
This chat group has been my only lifeline and I am grateful for the posts and feedback.

    just a clarification

is this an issue of migration from Windoes 10 to Windows 11 or by

a backend migration we are doing and unfortunately

we understand that it is something the the OneDrive team is doing and is not related to the computers we are using ?
