Hi. I had some folders shared from different users in my OneDrive account. I had added the folders to my OneDrive with Add Shortcut to OneDrive button from Shared folders in cloud. The account is logged into a windows pc and every files including the folders shared with my were syncing fine until yesterday. Yesterday night the shared folders were completely removed from the Windows pc and folders are replaced with internet shortcut. This is such a big mess. I have tried unlinking the account and linking it back, changing the location of OneDrive on my windows pc and tried to get a new folder shared to my account and adding it to OneDrive. Nothing works so far. OneDrive has a big part in my daily activities. Please help me resolve this.

Here is the statement from the Microsoft OneDrive product group (Redmond USA) about the OneDrive Personal problem:

***This is related to a backend migration we are doing and unfortunately, we don’t fully support syncing shared folders in the case where one user has migrated and the other has not. We’re doing everything possible to accelerate things so that it can be resolved as soon as possible for users of the feature. When the accounts are migrated, there is automated logic that makes them go back to a syncing folder within several days.***I have heard, that shared Folder issue is gone.
The best thing is: WAIT and do nothing

I can also confirm that after reporting this in June 2024, all my accounts finally switched over today, and I no longer see "Search" as a bottom navigation link.

THAT ONLY TOOK TEN MONTHS 🤣

Hey all, update from my side: all my accounts have now been migrated to the new OneDrive backend. My shared folders work fine now. It "only" took ~2.5 months for me, I consider myself lucky compared to others in this thread.

Once I detected the account sharing a folder was also migrated, I had to remove the URL link from my account and add it again so that OneDrive can sync it again as a local folder. It wouldn't do it automatically.

I wish you all great patience, or enough courage to switch to another provider.

Thank you all for the detailed posts on this thread.

I was struck by this issue morning. One of my two accounts in my family has migrated while the other has not.

This thread was the most useful to understanding my issue. Sadly, I cannot wait MONTHS for the issue to "resolve itself" so I will be investigating alternate methods to share files.

I was really happy with my M365 family plan and the syncing across devices, but this experience has serious damaged my option of Microsoft. I hope the Microsoft customer service takes this to heart and make changes to warn users of such a migration and takes steps to ensure regression testing captures this type of fundamental failure in the future.

We will see how long it takes for my accounts to resolve, but if this issue persists, this is a fatal error in my opinion.
