Hi. I had some folders shared from different users in my OneDrive account. I had added the folders to my OneDrive with Add Shortcut to OneDrive button from Shared folders in cloud. The account is logged into a windows pc and every files including the folders shared with my were syncing fine until yesterday. Yesterday night the shared folders were completely removed from the Windows pc and folders are replaced with internet shortcut. This is such a big mess. I have tried unlinking the account and linking it back, changing the location of OneDrive on my windows pc and tried to get a new folder shared to my account and adding it to OneDrive. Nothing works so far. OneDrive has a big part in my daily activities. Please help me resolve this.

Here is the statement from the Microsoft OneDrive product group (Redmond USA) about the OneDrive Personal problem:

***This is related to a backend migration we are doing and unfortunately, we don’t fully support syncing shared folders in the case where one user has migrated and the other has not. We’re doing everything possible to accelerate things so that it can be resolved as soon as possible for users of the feature. When the accounts are migrated, there is automated logic that makes them go back to a syncing folder within several days.***I have heard, that shared Folder issue is gone.
The best thing is: WAIT and do nothing

    Hi All,

It seems the onedrive shortcut issue is solved....

MS just released a new ONEDrive version, and after de-install/reinstall all my shared folders are back again and usable.

Download link to the new Onedrive version released 04-10-2025 https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=844652

    Hi Vaughan,

I have been in IT for 40 years, most of that with very large hardware vendors and if we did this to any customer, we would certainly be out of business, our whole industry would be out of business! We sell our products with 5 x 9's support (99.999% planned up time) and often have significant financial penalties if we miss the uptime agreement. MS would be one of our customers, if our equipment caused an outage for a few days, we would get kicked out of the data centre for good. So if MS expect this high-level of support/service from their vendors, why are they not giving this level of support to their customers (us)?

I have always worked in customer service/support, my previous company used to say, we all have issues, unplanned outages, but how you manage that with your customers i.e. excellent communication, setting reasonable return to service expectations and beating them, is what sets us apart from any other hardware vendor.

So they failed on design and planning, even now they continue to fail on recovery. So can they close the gap on customer service? NO, there is no ETA for return to service, no progress communication and no apology for the worst customer service/support ever.

We are all guilty in allowing this monopoly to exist and to control our lives, because if there was an easy alternative vendor, I would have been gone weeks ago for this one issue and perhaps most people here too.

I have logged 3 separate tickets for issues including this one, they have sent me emails, I have replied (******@microsoftsupport.com and ******@microsoftsupport.com) and have not had a response. The first email I replied to, a put a read receipt on, and I got this a month later:

    Your message

       To: Microsoft Support
Sent: Tuesday, 4 March 2025 2:02:04 pm (UTC-05:00) Eastern Time (US & Canada)

was deleted without being read on Saturday, 5 April 2025 5:37:11 am (UTC-05:00) Eastern Time (US & Canada).

Maybe they don't have a customer service department any more or they are too busy to action/fix anything, because they are too busy reading all the complaints from users?

I am using a Mac. My recycle bin is filling up with files, my internet is going wild, and my processor is going mad. This is not a great way of running a company. I hope my computer will not lock up if it runs out of space.
