Hi. I had some folders shared from different users in my OneDrive account. I had added the folders to my OneDrive with Add Shortcut to OneDrive button from Shared folders in cloud. The account is logged into a windows pc and every files including the folders shared with my were syncing fine until yesterday. Yesterday night the shared folders were completely removed from the Windows pc and folders are replaced with internet shortcut. This is such a big mess. I have tried unlinking the account and linking it back, changing the location of OneDrive on my windows pc and tried to get a new folder shared to my account and adding it to OneDrive. Nothing works so far. OneDrive has a big part in my daily activities. Please help me resolve this.

Here is the statement from the Microsoft OneDrive product group (Redmond USA) about the OneDrive Personal problem:

***This is related to a backend migration we are doing and unfortunately, we don’t fully support syncing shared folders in the case where one user has migrated and the other has not. We’re doing everything possible to accelerate things so that it can be resolved as soon as possible for users of the feature. When the accounts are migrated, there is automated logic that makes them go back to a syncing folder within several days.***I have heard, that shared Folder issue is gone.
The best thing is: WAIT and do nothing

I hope you replied with "Surely a year is long enough to fix one bug ?" or maybe the staff just don't stay around long enough to do a fix and just pass it on to the next poor soul???

To be fair IMHO it looks like the bug HAS been fixed.

We simply have to WAIT for all of our accounts to be migrated to V2

It is the roll out to all OneDrive accounts that is taking forever.

How long does it take to migrate 300 million accounts (each with say 250GiB of data)?

But as we have NO visibility of the progress of the migration we are simply like mushrooms (kept in the dark and fed on ****)

    NOTES:

    • The 300 million quantity seen earlier in this chat - no idea where the number came from
    • I personally would estimate the number of accounts at 2 billion (world population / 4)
    • My 250GiB estimate is based on figures mentioned earlier in this chat

I personnaly have been hit by this migration issue since 13-Feb-2025 (49 days ago) when the first account shared in got converted to a .url link.

Slowly all othe the other accounts shared folders have become .url links.

I am now just waiting patiently for my (main account, which the family subscription is attached to) account to be converted.

The 2 workarounds that were suggested by some members worked for me in the end, on 2 different PCs of the Family network.

Can't go back to link to the specific posts, but if you use the search words "add a network location" and "map network drive" you should be able to retrieve the 2 solutions.
One worked on one PC, and the other worked on the other.

GOOD LUCK and seriously, Microsoft you should at LEAST offer 1 year free membership to all your OneDrive users....
