Hi. I had some folders shared from different users in my OneDrive account. I had added the folders to my OneDrive with Add Shortcut to OneDrive button from Shared folders in cloud. The account is logged into a windows pc and every files including the folders shared with my were syncing fine until yesterday. Yesterday night the shared folders were completely removed from the Windows pc and folders are replaced with internet shortcut. This is such a big mess. I have tried unlinking the account and linking it back, changing the location of OneDrive on my windows pc and tried to get a new folder shared to my account and adding it to OneDrive. Nothing works so far. OneDrive has a big part in my daily activities. Please help me resolve this.

Here is the statement from the Microsoft OneDrive product group (Redmond USA) about the OneDrive Personal problem:

***This is related to a backend migration we are doing and unfortunately, we don’t fully support syncing shared folders in the case where one user has migrated and the other has not. We’re doing everything possible to accelerate things so that it can be resolved as soon as possible for users of the feature. When the accounts are migrated, there is automated logic that makes them go back to a syncing folder within several days.***I have heard, that shared Folder issue is gone.
The best thing is: WAIT and do nothing

This likely happened because you had 2 accounts on the same server. Then, one was migrated by them, creating the problem we're facing.

Once the second account, whichever it was, migrated too, you were good.

The problem is that we can't speed up by, for example, creating new accounts to replace old ones. It's like they intentionally create new accounts on the old server to prevent us from creating new accounts and moving our data ourselves if this feature is important enough, using more of their resources.

They're very smart people. It's too much of a coincidence things are broken in a way we can't work around, almost as if it were intentional. Otherwise, if you're migrating people to a new datacenter, why in hell would they put NEW accounts on OLD servers just to migrate them later?

They possibly want to break things for heavy users that would move their data manually if that were possible.

It feels they're intentionally breaking it to "quiet fire" unwanted customers.

If you need the feature you can't just sit around for 9 months on a gamble to know if or when you'll leave.

Can someone explain why would it make sense to have NEW accounts using the OLD server if you're migrating everybody? Or are the load balancing between two datacenters and there will be always a group in one side, another in another side, and the problem will never be solved and we can be always relocated without warning based on hidden criteria like usage, behavior, geo location etc?

    Sorry for ranting.

It happened to me since last month, with 2 accounts with the same family with me.

Last week, if've checked that my 2 other account in family "has already migrated" with no "search" menu under the "restore your onedrive", and surprisingly they can share folder that doesn't change into url.

But for my account (the head account in family) still be "the old one" so i can't share or receive shared folder as local folder, either in macOs or windows.

I have been working for years with the convenience that OneDrive provides, but after this issue hit (and it turns out it has been going on for almost a year and there is no solution) all the workflows that I use are messed up and it really disrupts my work and productivity.

Please, the Microsoft and OneDrive teams to take this issue seriously to solving this problem, because it turns out that many of your users are experiencing the same or worse difficulties. We believe that you are giving your best efforts, but at least give us users clarity about what is actually happening and how far the process is to fix this problem, so that we users do not feel ignored by this issue.

    Thank you.

Look, I saw that someone gave a possible solution.

You need to do a network mapping by getting the URL address of the shared folder, then just enter your credentials. I did a test here on my machine and it worked, but it didn't work on the folder of an acquaintance.

But there's a catch here: you need to get this path in the history of a Word or Excel document because it comes with an address something like this:\d.docs.live.net\xxxxxxxxxxxx\Documents\directory

    who knows this helps someone
    Best regards
