Folders Shared with me are syncing as internet shortcut in OneDrive on Windows PC

Hi. I had some folders shared from different users in my OneDrive account. I had added the folders to my OneDrive with Add Shortcut to OneDrive button from Shared folders in cloud. The account is logged into a windows pc and every files including the folders shared with my were syncing fine until yesterday. Yesterday night the shared folders were completely removed from the Windows pc and folders are replaced with internet shortcut. This is such a big mess. I have tried unlinking the account and linking it back, changing the location of OneDrive on my windows pc and tried to get a new folder shared to my account and adding it to OneDrive. Nothing works so far. OneDrive has a big part in my daily activities. Please help me resolve this.

Here is the statement from the Microsoft OneDrive product group (Redmond USA) about the OneDrive Personal problem:

***This is related to a backend migration we are doing and unfortunately, we don’t fully support syncing shared folders in the case where one user has migrated and the other has not. We’re doing everything possible to accelerate things so that it can be resolved as soon as possible for users of the feature. When the accounts are migrated, there is automated logic that makes them go back to a syncing folder within several days.***I have heard, that shared Folder issue is gone.
The best thing is: WAIT and do nothing

    Also look at NextCloud which is free if you self host and can be a lot cheaper than Mountain duck if have a lot of users and only want a few TB of hosted storage.

    Regarding point 6 (bug related to M365 roadmap #479965) - this only confirms my worst fears. My reading of that "feature update" is that this is expected behavior, only thing that'll change is that when you navigate to shared item via teams, email etc., you'll be directly taken to the web version of OneDrive. So the fact that the drive shortcut does not work is not a bug, it's a feature according to this. What is bug is that right now, even Teams and Outlook will beak on this, and once the "feature update" is done, Teams will "work" and show you document on web that you have to download and mess around with instead of it being "just a file".

    Which does not help at all, even within Teams this seems to be a huge regression.

    Given that the API of migrated accounts (or new accounts, with missing search in options) is very clearly based on SharePoint and the legacy OneDrive is clearly not a SharePoint it all makes sense, though... SharePoint never integrated with OneDrive Personal and I do not see any attempt at fixing that coming. The only hope is that everyone gets migrated to SharePoint version, but god knows how long that'll take

    The issue of OneDrive shared folders turning into shortcuts in File Explorer is a known issue that remains unresolved. However, based on the information gathered from the community, there is a temporary workaround for Windows:

    First, log in to onedrive.live.com via a web browser. In the root directory of the folder shared with you, select any Office document, click the three dots - Open - Open in app.

    In the opened Office app, click File - Home. You can see the shared file you just opened under Recent. Right-click on it and choose "Copy path to clipboard".

    Open Windows Explorer, find "This PC" on the left, right-click on it and select "Add a network location". In the "Add Network Location Wizard", click Next and then click "Choose a custom network location".

    Paste the copied file path into the input box and delete the file name part (for example, if the copied path is https://d.docs.live.net/****/****/ABC.xlsx, you would delete ABC.xlsx and keep the previous part).

    Next, enter your OneDrive account username and password in the pop-up window, set a name for your folder, and click Next to complete the creation.
    For accounts with two-factor authentication, you need to create an app password when logging in at this stepAt this point, you can directly access your shared folder from "This PC" in File Explorer. There may be some delay, but this can serve as a temporary workaround while you wait for the issue to be fixed.

    Why isn't this resolved yet? It seriously hampers the workflow of my colleagues and myself! It's been 9 months! Or is this some corporate bull that it doesn't fit the narrative for this to be fixed?
