Hi. I had some folders shared from different users in my OneDrive account. I had added the folders to my OneDrive with Add Shortcut to OneDrive button from Shared folders in cloud. The account is logged into a windows pc and every files including the folders shared with my were syncing fine until yesterday. Yesterday night the shared folders were completely removed from the Windows pc and folders are replaced with internet shortcut. This is such a big mess. I have tried unlinking the account and linking it back, changing the location of OneDrive on my windows pc and tried to get a new folder shared to my account and adding it to OneDrive. Nothing works so far. OneDrive has a big part in my daily activities. Please help me resolve this.

Here is the statement from the Microsoft OneDrive product group (Redmond USA) about the OneDrive Personal problem:

***This is related to a backend migration we are doing and unfortunately, we don’t fully support syncing shared folders in the case where one user has migrated and the other has not. We’re doing everything possible to accelerate things so that it can be resolved as soon as possible for users of the feature. When the accounts are migrated, there is automated logic that makes them go back to a syncing folder within several days.***I have heard, that shared Folder issue is gone.
The best thing is: WAIT and do nothing

Microsoft has ignored this issues for over a year now. At first, the problem was that **from** certain accounts, shared folders couldn't be "added to shortcuts" at all. Then... sometime mid this year, they resolved that with the "Internet Shortcut" solution. So now, sharing *from* some accounts works (you can Add To Shortcuts and it creates a local copy and things sync fine) and from the others... Internet Shortcut which is useless.

I've logged two support requests with MS and both simply reply with "yeah, we know and engineering is working on it". It's been months.

Back to DropBox or Google Drive because, well, they just work as advertised. Meanwhile, if you go to the OneDrive blog you can easily see that the Product Managers are touting AI, etc. Who cares? Get the fundamental features working first then, maybe, add the fluff.

It's also worth mentioning that the "Hide from Shared" is also broken. There's no way to get it back from "My Files"...

My wife experienced the internet shortcut issue in mid-June. Luckily, I found this thread before I tore the configuration apart on her laptop. We patiently waited for updates or an ETA. We hear crickets, so we wonder if this is simply a lack of communication, incompetence, or malicious intent. I do not know, and we are tired of waiting, so we are back on Dropbox, and it works like a charm with file operations. A word to the wise is to untether as many Microsoft services as possible. This situation is an awful display.

The annoying thing for us... we were drawn to OneDrive because of the 1TB storage for all family members with 365 family. We actually paid for Office365. Dummies are us for trusting MS to provide a solution as advertised...
