Hi. I had some folders shared from different users in my OneDrive account. I had added the folders to my OneDrive with Add Shortcut to OneDrive button from Shared folders in cloud. The account is logged into a windows pc and every files including the folders shared with my were syncing fine until yesterday. Yesterday night the shared folders were completely removed from the Windows pc and folders are replaced with internet shortcut. This is such a big mess. I have tried unlinking the account and linking it back, changing the location of OneDrive on my windows pc and tried to get a new folder shared to my account and adding it to OneDrive. Nothing works so far. OneDrive has a big part in my daily activities. Please help me resolve this.

Here is the statement from the Microsoft OneDrive product group (Redmond USA) about the OneDrive Personal problem:

***This is related to a backend migration we are doing and unfortunately, we don’t fully support syncing shared folders in the case where one user has migrated and the other has not. We’re doing everything possible to accelerate things so that it can be resolved as soon as possible for users of the feature. When the accounts are migrated, there is automated logic that makes them go back to a syncing folder within several days.***I have heard, that shared Folder issue is gone.
The best thing is: WAIT and do nothing

My IT guy has suggested to move over to Box Drive. I migrated over today. It works similar to OneDrive as it shows up in your File Explorer.

It's been a month since this problem occurred and there is still no update from Microsoft. This has greatly impacted the productivity of my team. Many documents are difficult to edit online on onedrive.com. Has anyone managed to solve this problem?

There are plenty of alternatives that work the same way. Which one to use will depend on how much storage you want, how many users you have and how long a file history you want. They all seem to integrate with File Explorer and have a mobile app.

We looked at Box, Dropbox Families and NextCloud, choosing Ionos Nextcloud because we only wanted 1TB of storage but have 10 users. and wanted 6 months plus file history.

One pain point for DropBox and OneDrive was that some users were already using them, and you can't have two installations on one system. You can work round it with sharing but in DropBox's case that eats into your storage allowance.

There is still no workaround available. I have lodged multiple support requests, shared screen recording and then they just close the ticket without actually helping. I am also not able to download the folder. The owner of the folder is my outlook alias and I have tried logging in with that email but it just redirects to my main account user (gmail) drive. So fed up now. Will have to download each item in the folder one by one then stop using Onedrive - google drive will now be my main cloud service.
