Folders Shared with me are syncing as internet shortcut in OneDrive on Windows PC

Hi. I had some folders shared from different users in my OneDrive account. I had added the folders to my OneDrive with Add Shortcut to OneDrive button from Shared folders in cloud. The account is logged into a windows pc and every files including the folders shared with my were syncing fine until yesterday. Yesterday night the shared folders were completely removed from the Windows pc and folders are replaced with internet shortcut. This is such a big mess. I have tried unlinking the account and linking it back, changing the location of OneDrive on my windows pc and tried to get a new folder shared to my account and adding it to OneDrive. Nothing works so far. OneDrive has a big part in my daily activities. Please help me resolve this.

Here is the statement from the Microsoft OneDrive product group (Redmond USA) about the OneDrive Personal problem:

***This is related to a backend migration we are doing and unfortunately, we don’t fully support syncing shared folders in the case where one user has migrated and the other has not. We’re doing everything possible to accelerate things so that it can be resolved as soon as possible for users of the feature. When the accounts are migrated, there is automated logic that makes them go back to a syncing folder within several days.***I have heard, that shared Folder issue is gone.
The best thing is: WAIT and do nothing

    has this been resolved yet. im now finding that i cant view anything form the shared folders in desktop Or Mobile apps. its quiet frustrating when you pay for a service you cant use for almost a month.

    I think this is an issue with the Microsoft account linked to OneDrive.

    In trying to help someone through this, one account out of four in the family is affected. When logging in to the same computer with a different family account, OneDrive and the shared folder behave as expected.

    When logging in to another computer with the problem account, the original problem as described in the OP returns, though now not even a URL shortcut can be seen in the local OneDrive folder. It can be seen via OneDrive browser access only.

    I have not seen this mentioned here, but for me this problem coincided with OneDrive terminating with error code 0x8004def4 when launching it - this happens on multiple PCs that are all parts of the same Microsoft 365 Family subscription.

    I solved this problem deleting "program files/Microsoft OneDrive" after uninstalling.

    Then you will probably join against this .url bug if you have shared folders in your OneDrive account.

    Thanks - uninstalling OneDrive and reinstalling the version from https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/onedrive/download worked for me. I did not have to delete anything in "Program Files", but to be on the safe side, I renamed the OneDrive folder in my user directory to "OneDrive.old" to avoid clashes or sync errors. After this, the error was gone, and syncing worked again, but I did indeed encounter the bug mentioned at the top of this thread (folders shared with me turn into links to the web version).

    Note that I had to uninstall/reinstall on each of my PCs to fix each of them in turn.
