Hi. I had some folders shared from different users in my OneDrive account. I had added the folders to my OneDrive with Add Shortcut to OneDrive button from Shared folders in cloud. The account is logged into a windows pc and every files including the folders shared with my were syncing fine until yesterday. Yesterday night the shared folders were completely removed from the Windows pc and folders are replaced with internet shortcut. This is such a big mess. I have tried unlinking the account and linking it back, changing the location of OneDrive on my windows pc and tried to get a new folder shared to my account and adding it to OneDrive. Nothing works so far. OneDrive has a big part in my daily activities. Please help me resolve this.

Here is the statement from the Microsoft OneDrive product group (Redmond USA) about the OneDrive Personal problem:

***This is related to a backend migration we are doing and unfortunately, we don’t fully support syncing shared folders in the case where one user has migrated and the other has not. We’re doing everything possible to accelerate things so that it can be resolved as soon as possible for users of the feature. When the accounts are migrated, there is automated logic that makes them go back to a syncing folder within several days.***I have heard, that shared Folder issue is gone.
The best thing is: WAIT and do nothing

    Hey Microsoft,

Im feeling this scene soo much right now with you:

    https://youtu.be/vbHqUNl8YFk?si=DJgPdc_30GhN2VPp

    Am i right?

Is that the way you always treat your private customers? 🙈

If this would happen with icloud, Apple would do everything to solve the problem instandly.

But to be honest, i only use Onedrive because its included in the O365 Family Package.

This just pushes my mind more and more that you get what you pay for. Maybe i should invest 10€ more per Month and change to some other Cloud Provider. Im happy that at least for Cloud Drive Microsoft is not the prefered option in the Global Economy. And yes, this is unacaptable and not a good review for OneDrive at all.

Come on Microsoft/OneDrive!!! Why can't this get fixed??

And why did one of our main folders do this, while other folders will still stay on the PC??

    JUST FIX IT.

A terrible performance to still not have provided a solution after 3 months!!! This is unacceptable.
When will a solution finally be available?

We customers are driven to another provider because the satisfaction of our own customers is completely ignored.

This was the first step in me figuring something (anything) out.

    • Navigation pane looks different and the look changes over time (e.g. the "Home" button disappears)
    • Behavior of the "Shared" folder changes, showing different available actions over time. Eg. the option to show a shared folder under "My Files" disappeared for a while, and then reappeared.
    • The blue button in the upper left says "Add new" instead of "New & Upload" or "Create or upload" as in the other accounts
    • The "Plan and Upgrade" menu showed a different (ie wrong) type of account subscription than the others, eg. it showed a "Free" account but with 1TB of storage. It should have shown a Family account in our case.

We have nine accounts, and I've noticed the following after seeing your post:

    • Only two say "Create & Upload" -- one is a paid premium account (family) and the other is a regular free account. Both of these can see shared folders locally.
    • Two say "Add New" while the remaining ones say "New & Upload" -- but only one of them actually has the share show up locally. The rest have converted to .url files (they all worked prior to June/July timeframe).
    • The Browse Files by -> People shows essentially the same content as the "Shared" link above the recycle bin, just in a tiled/buttoned layout. However, I'm not seeing any shared folder to the accounts that can't save to their desktops. It's essentially blank, or in *some* cases it will show outbound shared owned by that account only and who they are shared to. But even then, it took a lot of refreshing the browser to even get that.
    • The "Upgrade" and "Buy Storage" buttons for regular accounts sometimes don't show. This includes the "Storage" status bar. Like the previous item, if you refresh the screen enough times it might show up.

Interestingly, I tried to share a folder (with edit access) from one of the bad accounts to a good one and when it pops up in OneDrive, I click on the notification and am taken to an error page at https://my.microsoftpersonalcontent.com/ plus the full link text after. I'm not sure why it's not going to https://onedrive.live.com/ instead.

I've also noticed that sometimes trying to go to OneDrive says that I'm in Sharepoint Online. I know they are effectively the same service, but....

But yeah, they really need to figure this out. Some of us are linked to our paid OneDrive accounts, we don't want to pay for another service just to get this done.
