Folders Shared with me are syncing as internet shortcut in OneDrive on Windows PC

Hi. I had some folders shared from different users in my OneDrive account. I had added the folders to my OneDrive with Add Shortcut to OneDrive button from Shared folders in cloud. The account is logged into a windows pc and every files including the folders shared with my were syncing fine until yesterday. Yesterday night the shared folders were completely removed from the Windows pc and folders are replaced with internet shortcut. This is such a big mess. I have tried unlinking the account and linking it back, changing the location of OneDrive on my windows pc and tried to get a new folder shared to my account and adding it to OneDrive. Nothing works so far. OneDrive has a big part in my daily activities. Please help me resolve this.

Here is the statement from the Microsoft OneDrive product group (Redmond USA) about the OneDrive Personal problem:

***This is related to a backend migration we are doing and unfortunately, we don’t fully support syncing shared folders in the case where one user has migrated and the other has not. We’re doing everything possible to accelerate things so that it can be resolved as soon as possible for users of the feature. When the accounts are migrated, there is automated logic that makes them go back to a syncing folder within several days.***I have heard, that shared Folder issue is gone.
The best thing is: WAIT and do nothing

    it got even worse, all existing shared folders become shortcuts, removing all shared data from my drive.

    I was having this problem but seem to have found a way around it, at least one that works for me anyways. I opened the file explorer and found the short cut folder. Right click the folder and choose ‘Always Keep on This Device’. It then converted the shortcut to a folder. I’ve tried uploading new files to the source folder and they do show up in file explorer. Hopefully this works for you.

    I'm not so sure.

    I've two customers each with an individual that has suffered this inconvenience for too long. I've sat and stared also, I've tried a couple of things suggested here. But like many I need a fix as opposed to a work around.

    Each customer has a Microsoft 365 'Family' subscription that is shared amongst its users. Nothing wrong with that. Both are small companies and the subscription cost and functionality suits.... It's also worked well for them for a few years....

    What I noticed with the affected accounts was as follows:

    When I opened one of the Folders that now takes you to the OneDrive folder on the web. Where the user is signed in (Top Right) of the screen. I clicked on the Cog. The OneDrive ‘Settings’ page, clicked  ‘Options’. This opened the OneDrive ‘Manage Storage / Storage Summary’ page.
    I noted that the User who's folders that were previously shared and we now Internet Shortcuts. In the Plan section it ONLY noted that as much as he was allocated the 1TB OneDrive Storage allocation. The current plan on refers to the Free OneDrive associated with his MS Account - 5GB

    Yet another user that has working shared folders, has the Microsoft 365 Subscription that has been shared with him listed on the Manage Storage Page. Where those that do not don't....

    I’m interested in whether this is common for others here that have similar experiences.....
