Hi. I had some folders shared from different users in my OneDrive account. I had added the folders to my OneDrive with Add Shortcut to OneDrive button from Shared folders in cloud. The account is logged into a windows pc and every files including the folders shared with my were syncing fine until yesterday. Yesterday night the shared folders were completely removed from the Windows pc and folders are replaced with internet shortcut. This is such a big mess. I have tried unlinking the account and linking it back, changing the location of OneDrive on my windows pc and tried to get a new folder shared to my account and adding it to OneDrive. Nothing works so far. OneDrive has a big part in my daily activities. Please help me resolve this.

Here is the statement from the Microsoft OneDrive product group (Redmond USA) about the OneDrive Personal problem:

***This is related to a backend migration we are doing and unfortunately, we don’t fully support syncing shared folders in the case where one user has migrated and the other has not. We’re doing everything possible to accelerate things so that it can be resolved as soon as possible for users of the feature. When the accounts are migrated, there is automated logic that makes them go back to a syncing folder within several days.***I have heard, that shared Folder issue is gone.
The best thing is: WAIT and do nothing

X (erstwhile Twitter) with some key tech handles included may be the right direction to go...

Has anyone thought of putting this through to some journalists to publicize this problem, or perhaps asking some lawyers about the legitimacy of this intentional "bug" Microsoft created.

After following this thread for some time now, it is clear to me that Microsoft are forcing people who are using the family subscription to sync files in a small business operation, to pay for the Business subscription. The family subscription does allow 5 users, so I think it warrants a class action law suite.

The issue makes the overall thing almost unusable and it is not at all acceptable that it takes such long to get resolved!

Thank you very much for your message.

Based on your summary, I realized that my personal OneDrive account has not yet been migrated to version 2.0, while the accounts that had shared folders with it have already been updated. I also checked that for people who are already on 2.0, the folders continue to work normally. However, in my case, they have turned into links.

Now I’m unsure whether I should migrate my entire personal account to a new one that is already on 2.0 or if I should wait.

I considered this. Some people have reported that new accounts are not necessarily on V2.0, which needs to be taken into consideration.

Perhaps more importantly, for my family, the OneDrive accounts are also connected to their Windows accounts, and we are all intensive users of laptops/desktops. Our accounts are part of an MS365 Family subscription, and of course, our Office products are installed under those accounts.

    Ultimately, I've decided to wait.
