Hi. I had some folders shared from different users in my OneDrive account. I had added the folders to my OneDrive with Add Shortcut to OneDrive button from Shared folders in cloud. The account is logged into a windows pc and every files including the folders shared with my were syncing fine until yesterday. Yesterday night the shared folders were completely removed from the Windows pc and folders are replaced with internet shortcut. This is such a big mess. I have tried unlinking the account and linking it back, changing the location of OneDrive on my windows pc and tried to get a new folder shared to my account and adding it to OneDrive. Nothing works so far. OneDrive has a big part in my daily activities. Please help me resolve this.

Here is the statement from the Microsoft OneDrive product group (Redmond USA) about the OneDrive Personal problem:

***This is related to a backend migration we are doing and unfortunately, we don’t fully support syncing shared folders in the case where one user has migrated and the other has not. We’re doing everything possible to accelerate things so that it can be resolved as soon as possible for users of the feature. When the accounts are migrated, there is automated logic that makes them go back to a syncing folder within several days.***I have heard, that shared Folder issue is gone.
The best thing is: WAIT and do nothing

Compare your situation to arriving late to a very bad party where most everyone who had already arrived isn't able to leave (Hotel California, The Eagles). I too was already a Dropbox user, and I moved exclusively to Dropbox until Microsoft finishes cleaning up after this disaster.

I honestly don't understand the origin of this problem. It hit me this weekend: perhaps after updating to the latest version of .net although I can't say that was the problem seeing that it goes back to 2024 and beyond.

I'm on of the official responses from Microsoft they mention the cause of this has to do with not migrating entirely to .... I don't understand if this is a user error or Microsoft is changing their servers. Whatever, there is no clear statement of intention. Know I see how vulnerable my data is and seriously thinking about migrating entirely Dropbox or Google Drive. (I have my data split between these three.)

If so one could clarify why this is happening it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I tried this method and found when I then went to the Shared section of OneDrive online and tried to add the shortcut, I received the error "1 shortcut wasn't shared". I have not been able to verify the account I'm trying to sync to is V1 or V2 but I'm V2. Looking for this issue online, sure enough, it pointed to another OneDrive MS Community post about the June 2024 url shortcut issue, but it included a workaround. Here is a link to that post. The workaround is to use the url to Add a Network Location in File Explorer. This worked for me and my use case. True, the location I have access to is not being shared within my OneDrive folder, but I can live with that for the moment.

in my case we havent used the whole TB but only around 30 GBs, so we copied everything to an external drive and deleted everything from the clopud just to make sure we dont get a copy of the copy or something like that, then we move the only files to the documents on the pc sharing , we shared and it worked
