Folders Shared with me are syncing as internet shortcut in OneDrive on Windows PC

Hi. I had some folders shared from different users in my OneDrive account. I had added the folders to my OneDrive with Add Shortcut to OneDrive button from Shared folders in cloud. The account is logged into a windows pc and every files including the folders shared with my were syncing fine until yesterday. Yesterday night the shared folders were completely removed from the Windows pc and folders are replaced with internet shortcut. This is such a big mess. I have tried unlinking the account and linking it back, changing the location of OneDrive on my windows pc and tried to get a new folder shared to my account and adding it to OneDrive. Nothing works so far. OneDrive has a big part in my daily activities. Please help me resolve this.

Here is the statement from the Microsoft OneDrive product group (Redmond USA) about the OneDrive Personal problem:

***This is related to a backend migration we are doing and unfortunately, we don’t fully support syncing shared folders in the case where one user has migrated and the other has not. We’re doing everything possible to accelerate things so that it can be resolved as soon as possible for users of the feature. When the accounts are migrated, there is automated logic that makes them go back to a syncing folder within several days.***I have heard, that shared Folder issue is gone.
The best thing is: WAIT and do nothing

I have the same issue. Microsoft does not offer a solution, and it seems that everyone with the same problem is on their own.

Seems like MS is pushing their customers to other companies. **** would they care, right?

If downloading 750 GB of files wasn't a problem by itself, MS servers are slow, the download might take days.

What should be a solution has become a huge problem.

I lost Windows Explorer sharing June 2024; URL only now.

I just set up a new Windows 11 Pro PC and I cannot login from Onedrive App. The login request goes off into never never land.

It appears as though one must subscribe to OneDrive nowadays, i.e. no longer a freebie w Windows 10 or 11. I work w 501-3c ( 20+ laptops) relying on Onedrive for online "backup" rather than thumb-drive alone so am feeling highly at risk. Storage requirement is less than 2GB so I guess I'll have to look elsewhere than Microsoft - change is always inevitable I suppose ...

Wish you luck , I reported this in June 2024 for my account and no luck yet !

I was certainly not happy when I just had to renew my subscription for another year !

I am guessing that there are billions of OneDrive accounts which need to be migrated.

Microsoft is no Facebook, but there are definitely millions of us affected...
I am guessing based on what I have seen here that Microsoft are targeting the "low hanging fruit" first

Accounts which have few files

Accounts which use a small amount of disk space
Not necessarily, they migrated me (550GB) first and shortly after that my biggest family account (350GB) and smallest account (1GB). I think it is fully random, TBH.

Since then, though, no change for over a week already, keeping my fingers crossed. I have the bloody service prepaid for 3 more years...
