Hi. I had some folders shared from different users in my OneDrive account. I had added the folders to my OneDrive with Add Shortcut to OneDrive button from Shared folders in cloud. The account is logged into a windows pc and every files including the folders shared with my were syncing fine until yesterday. Yesterday night the shared folders were completely removed from the Windows pc and folders are replaced with internet shortcut. This is such a big mess. I have tried unlinking the account and linking it back, changing the location of OneDrive on my windows pc and tried to get a new folder shared to my account and adding it to OneDrive. Nothing works so far. OneDrive has a big part in my daily activities. Please help me resolve this.

Here is the statement from the Microsoft OneDrive product group (Redmond USA) about the OneDrive Personal problem:

***This is related to a backend migration we are doing and unfortunately, we don’t fully support syncing shared folders in the case where one user has migrated and the other has not. We’re doing everything possible to accelerate things so that it can be resolved as soon as possible for users of the feature. When the accounts are migrated, there is automated logic that makes them go back to a syncing folder within several days.***I have heard, that shared Folder issue is gone.
The best thing is: WAIT and do nothing

My accounts were upgraded to version 2, but the issue isn't fixed. The share feature isn't working right.

Yesterday, I tried sharing a set of folders with another account, but the folders don't show up in that account. I can only access them through the email we receive every time a folder is shared with us. Even though I can access them, it's not possible to create a shortcut. Whenever I try, I get a message saying, "1 shortcut wasn't added."

Honestly, I think I'm just going to give up and switch to Google Drive.

I personnaly have been hit by this migration issue since 13-Feb-2025 (49 days ago) when the first account shared in got converted to a .url link.

Slowly all othe the other accounts shared folders have become .url links.

I am now just waiting patiently for my (main account, which the family subscription is attached to) account to be converted.

Has anyone thought of putting this through to some journalists to publicize this problem, or perhaps asking some lawyers about the legitimacy of this intentional "bug" Microsoft created.

After following this thread for some time now, it is clear to me that Microsoft are forcing people who are using the family subscription to sync files in a small business operation, to pay for the Business subscription. The family subscription does allow 5 users, so I think it warrants a class action law suite.

    Unbelievable!
I encountered the issue two month ago. We tried to bypass its impact to our business processes by creating new accounts. MS creates them as "unmigrated", but now even this method stopped working because, one by one, these new accounts were migrated as well - roughly in one-two weeks after creating.

I check the status of my "Onedrive version" (that Search option under the Gear/Options icon) daily and it remains the same. I've been paying for MS 365 for about six years and this kind of treatment toward loyal customers (no comments, no support response, no estimated resolution time) is outrages.

We've already started transferring the most critical files to another cloud storage. It's very inconvenient, but unfortunately, it's the only way to continue working.
