Hi. I had some folders shared from different users in my OneDrive account. I had added the folders to my OneDrive with Add Shortcut to OneDrive button from Shared folders in cloud. The account is logged into a windows pc and every files including the folders shared with my were syncing fine until yesterday. Yesterday night the shared folders were completely removed from the Windows pc and folders are replaced with internet shortcut. This is such a big mess. I have tried unlinking the account and linking it back, changing the location of OneDrive on my windows pc and tried to get a new folder shared to my account and adding it to OneDrive. Nothing works so far. OneDrive has a big part in my daily activities. Please help me resolve this.

Here is the statement from the Microsoft OneDrive product group (Redmond USA) about the OneDrive Personal problem:

***This is related to a backend migration we are doing and unfortunately, we don’t fully support syncing shared folders in the case where one user has migrated and the other has not. We’re doing everything possible to accelerate things so that it can be resolved as soon as possible for users of the feature. When the accounts are migrated, there is automated logic that makes them go back to a syncing folder within several days.***I have heard, that shared Folder issue is gone.
The best thing is: WAIT and do nothing

I won't bother with this anymore.

    This is prime enshifitication.

The entire world is being enshitified.

They took market share, now they own it.

They can do whatever they want and we have nowhere to run but ourselves.

They know their product is getting worse and it is VERY intentional.

    They profit, we lose.

    Same with governments. We lost.

I will have to leave the conversation because I am tired of getting emails with messages from people who came here and didn't bother to read at least enough to see their problem is also faced by many others and prefer to tell their entire life story instead of just saying "me too" shortly.

Microsoft wants profit. Not happy customers.

Governments want to control us, not to serve us.

    We're doomed. We lost.

We're going down since late 80's. They figured out they could profit more by letting "real users" (the ones who actually use what they pay for) without service.

They also labelled us as "Karens".

At least, in the past, we could ask to speak to a "manager". Now, the most we get is a call center in India that hires people at semi slave jobs and are there to face conflict without enough power to do anything to help, because they're not hired to help but to "delay, deny and defend" their employer.

I know uncle Bill loves his money but I don't think even he would agree with these policies.

It's not acceptable that a topic like this doesn't get a top tier person from Microsoft apologizing to us, personally, taking responsibility and fixing this situation.

What they're doing to us is worse than showing a middle finger.

Goodbye (soon, I will still subscribe for the topic for another 24 hours but I'll be done with it afterwards, sorry).

If Microsoft's official position is to do nothing and wait, it leads me to request a refund for the three years of subscription I have paid for. Then I install a generic version of Office and everything will be fine. Microsoft is not giving me any other choice.

How do you go about determining if an account has been migrated?

Open OneDrive on the web, open browser's dev tools (F12 key), switch to network tab.

Click on the folder belonging to user you want to investigate (yours or any of the shared folders). You'll see bunch of requests fire off. One of them will start either with https://api.onedrive.com/v1.0/drives/ (legacy OneDrive, this URL has been used since like forever) or https://my.microsoftpersonalcontent.com/_api/v2.0/drives (migrated new OneDrive).

It is also possible to identify your own status using the way Settings menu looks, search through this thread...

2,813 people with the same problem – this is alarming, and even more so after what happened to me.

I created another Outlook.com account, thinking I was starting fresh. I spent several hours transferring my data, integrated it into my Family subscription, and shared it after removing the previous one. Problem solved, or so I thought.

Unfortunately, after just 15 days, I suddenly couldn’t find my folders anymore. I checked and found everything in the trash, but still visible on the web. I tried to reshare the folders, but nothing changed – same old URL issue!!

Terrible, so much time wasted!! 😤
