Hi. I had some folders shared from different users in my OneDrive account. I had added the folders to my OneDrive with Add Shortcut to OneDrive button from Shared folders in cloud. The account is logged into a windows pc and every files including the folders shared with my were syncing fine until yesterday. Yesterday night the shared folders were completely removed from the Windows pc and folders are replaced with internet shortcut. This is such a big mess. I have tried unlinking the account and linking it back, changing the location of OneDrive on my windows pc and tried to get a new folder shared to my account and adding it to OneDrive. Nothing works so far. OneDrive has a big part in my daily activities. Please help me resolve this.

Here is the statement from the Microsoft OneDrive product group (Redmond USA) about the OneDrive Personal problem:

***This is related to a backend migration we are doing and unfortunately, we don’t fully support syncing shared folders in the case where one user has migrated and the other has not. We’re doing everything possible to accelerate things so that it can be resolved as soon as possible for users of the feature. When the accounts are migrated, there is automated logic that makes them go back to a syncing folder within several days.***I have heard, that shared Folder issue is gone.
The best thing is: WAIT and do nothing

    There's no temporary solution to actually fix the problem.

    All accounts, givers and receivers, must be on the same side of the wall. All must be V2 or V1 (some reported shares not working between V2 users, that's very concerning, I didn't experience that yet).

    In my humble opinion the alternatives are:

    1. Stop using shares between accounts if they're broken, change work flow or get service from another provider;
    2. Create new accounts and check on them every now and then until they're V2, there's tutorials on how to do it if you check previous comments on this topic.
    3. Use other hacks that were suggested by other users, including MS support, but those are sometimes quite odd and won't give you full functionality and you might even lose data if you don't know exactly what you're doing.

    I personally took a lazy route and chose 1. I stopped using shares for now. I have one account for "cold storage" and one that has stuff I operate more routinely on.

    I have a few usb drives with backups. My files are all disorganized, though, since I could only access my main OneDrive Account, meaning the old one still does not match the contents it should have.

    Life happens, I didn't have time or patience to finish reorganizing things. Many of you might be also stuck. This topic keeps getting more and more messages, which is nice, but I also feel we're walking in circles and I feel a bit frustrated by being unable to help or give you a better idea.

    I will eventually decide if it's worth to move my entire main account's content to V2 (will take me another week uploading) to have all accounts on the same side of the wall because I don't want to take the risk of doing all that only to lose the feature when they break or discontinue it.

    It would be nice if those amongst you who have shares from V2 to users also on V2 that are not working tried to create new shares and see if the problem persists. If that's the case, we're doomed and we can't rely on sharing folders and the problem might be worse, meaning we might have people on the same version but hosted on different data centers, for example. 😟

    I will try to stay following this topic but I don't know if I'll resist unsubscribing and giving up soon. 🤪

    Good news. My third account has been migrated to v2. However, it had 600GB of data shared with an account still in v1. The result: 600GB of data deleted locally, folders turned into shortcuts, and now I have to download the same 600GB and then upload it to the main account. I'm currently downloading at 500Kbps on a 750Mbps fiber optic connection."

    I have been following this thread for many days.

    I'm still waiting, checking my drive version, waiting, checking, refreshing, waiting...

    It's amazing, Microsoft broke one of the main features (IMHO) and we can do nothing about it.
