Hi. I had some folders shared from different users in my OneDrive account. I had added the folders to my OneDrive with Add Shortcut to OneDrive button from Shared folders in cloud. The account is logged into a windows pc and every files including the folders shared with my were syncing fine until yesterday. Yesterday night the shared folders were completely removed from the Windows pc and folders are replaced with internet shortcut. This is such a big mess. I have tried unlinking the account and linking it back, changing the location of OneDrive on my windows pc and tried to get a new folder shared to my account and adding it to OneDrive. Nothing works so far. OneDrive has a big part in my daily activities. Please help me resolve this.

Here is the statement from the Microsoft OneDrive product group (Redmond USA) about the OneDrive Personal problem:

***This is related to a backend migration we are doing and unfortunately, we don’t fully support syncing shared folders in the case where one user has migrated and the other has not. We’re doing everything possible to accelerate things so that it can be resolved as soon as possible for users of the feature. When the accounts are migrated, there is automated logic that makes them go back to a syncing folder within several days.***I have heard, that shared Folder issue is gone.
The best thing is: WAIT and do nothing

The official statement confirms the theory, no need to test it IMHO.

Here is it, as taken from Hans Brender blog (link in the previous posts), who also took it from the OneDrive US team.

This is related to a backend migration we are doing and unfortunately, we don’t fully support syncing shared folders in the case where one user has migrated and the other has not. We’re doing everything possible to accelerate things so that it can be resolved as soon as possible for users of the feature. When the accounts are migrated, there is automated logic that makes them go back to a syncing folder within several days.

At this point, please do send comments through OneDrive itself to show they underestimated the impact and clearly ignored their customers, which is by itself unacceptable. I had a survey and gave them 2 out of 10 only because of this "bug". If their management cares and if many people complain, they'll have to do something.

Btw they should give us all free subscriptions and compensations.

Edit : they could also prioritize the migration of accounts that actually share folders with others having "mounted" them in their own OneDrive. I doubt all of us do.

Here's an interesting article on the issue:

Microsoft finally has update on OneDrive shared folders turning to internet shortcut links

It refers, though, to the German article David previously mentioned, which can be found here:

OneDrive: Geteilte Ordner erscheinen nur noch als Links – neue Erkenntnisse

The last message from Hans Brender was posted on the 11th and reads:

Please, since there are millions of accounts, it may take some time for some of you

It appears, for some people at least, that there is light at the end of the tunnel. Why this has taken a year is another question that should make people think twice before looking at MS professional solutions.
