What is the official statement by Microsoft on:
- is Microsoft intending to solve this bug?
- by when is this bug solved and working the same way as before (and same way working as in the business version)?
I am surprised about Microsoft to be not communicate anything in regards to a solution.
Below is the response I received on 7 Mar 2025. Please keep in mind that I've had this issue since Jul 2024.
Hello There,
Thank you for contacting OneDrive consumer support. We hope you are doing good!
We understand the importance of being able to access shared folders directly from your desktop where a url link is generated instead, leading you to OneDrive Online.
We would let you know that we are aware of this and please rest assured that our engineering team is working on a fix. However, at this time, we do not have an estimated timeframe for when the fix will be implemented. Hope it should be fixed in upcoming updates on OneDrive. So, we request you to please keep your OneDrive and OS versions are updated to the latest. The .url internet shortcuts will automatically convert back to a folder when the issue is resolved.
Workaround: You can still access the shared folder content, but it will be via OneDrive.com as of now.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work towards resolving this matter. We are now archiving this case. If you still require assistance or have any further questions, please feel free to open a new case using this link-https://onedrive.live.com/?action=feedback. We are always here to help and support you.
Note- Your feedback is important to us. After this interaction you will receive a separate closure email with an opportunity to tell us about your experience.
We hope you have a great day ahead!
Regards,
Tahir H
OneDrive Team.
