Why would MS think that anyone would want the entire contents of their personal hard drive to be uploaded to a cloud? And further, why would it make sense to delete the local files if someone deleted them from the cloud? In what world does this make sense. It is a poorly designed system and it's a huge violation of privacy of your customers. I have nearly lost all my files because I "deleted" them from OneDrive. I guess I stupidly thought that my local files were safe, as I did not try to delete them. OneDrive, in its ineptitude, decided for me that since I didn't want them on some server somewhere, that I must not need them at all.
Please move to an opt-in model instead of the current opt-out model. And upon opting in, there should be a tutorial of the functionality of the software. A tutorial that an idiot can understand. And it should default to sharing a single folder, not the entirety of a computer.
If it was designed this way to artificially increase "usage" of the terrible software, you did a great job. But you increased usage to impress whoever at the cost of your customers' happiness and at the cost of their privacy. As a basic rule, people don't like their personal possessions (including data) being taken without their knowledge or consent. If you are going to steal our data anyway, at least be sneakier about it.

OneDrive disguises itself as a file folder then MS act surprised when people treat files in it like they would any other file folder.
It's an awful design that seems deliberately set up to cause confusion and data loss.
It is deceptive! Calling it a "backup" is a lie. A backup saves a copy of your files. This moves the files to the cloud. There is no "undo" option. Express all of this clearly in your instructions and see how many people will use this nightmare!
You said to follow that link to stop using Onedrive, But, it doesn't guarantee you that your files won't be deleted instead of returned to my harddrive.
It looks like the only option is to copy folders and files and then paste them back on the hard drive. Very time consuming. If I ever get it finished, I will definitely delete the program.
If you want to salvage this program, make it a genuine backup. The option to "move" all files to the cloud should be a well described option with warnings.

It's baffling how they could end up with such a bad design. It's like a kid is trying to make a website, but forget what he was doing every day and just start over with a new similar website. I have to log into Onedrive 2-3 times every time before I see the normal Onedrive website
OneDrive is THE WORST THING EVER, and I am a cripple who suffers from painful, debilitating arthritis and can barely walk. It took me multiple tries over several weeks to finally figure out how to disable and delete this malware which cost me hours of lost time as I had to rewrite and rerecord lost files, then months later when i tried to epxand my operations I realized that now my video files were disappearing into the Onedrive black hole.. Nothing so invasive and confsuing should come as a default. The problem is that users arent given an option not to uise it right from the first power on. If I knew what a headache i would be in for I never would have bought a Windows machine, and now i will never buy another one. As a disabled person who is barely getting by, I am scraping together every cent i can to buy an Aplle computer ASAP. The day I get to take the sledgehammer to this piece of junk will be a good day indeed. OneDrive completely ruined what otherwise would have been a pleasant experience. Now all it takes is the word OneDrive to appear on my screen for me to completely lose my mind. I have barely restrained myself from destroying the tower several times because of issues with OneDrive.
I just uninstalled onedrive.... a backup is a copy of the local files, not movement to a cloud. And I have files, whether by personal reason or by legal reason, that I do not/can not have on a cloud, yet, onedrive's management is poor and I could not setup the exact files/folders for movement. Finished with it, will not use it again.
