My mobile users are not seeing a search "magnifying glass" when using the Sharepoint app rather they are seeing a "bookmark/archive" in it's place.

Has anyone encountered this or know of a solution to have all users(owners, members, and visitors) have access to the search bar on mobile?

The search function is the most popular way our "site visitors" find what they need. So it is very key that we have this function working for all levels of permissions.

We have a private business page currently set up. This only happens on the mobile version as the web-based version has the search bar at the top of the page. I am not sure if this is associated with the level of permissions as to why my users are seeing this "bookmark" in place of the "magnifying glass". I am the "site owner" while I have the majority of the users who have had issues are visitors - we have 1000+ are just visitors. We do not want to change their permissions if we don't have to, as we do not want them to have edit permissions. Has anyone had this issue and found a solution?

Thank you for your help Stacy. After troubleshooting with some of the folks that were dealing with this issue. When entering the SharePoint mobile app - the users were clicking on "Quick Access" rather than "Frequent Sites". When selecting something under "Quick Access" they were getting the bookmark tab rather than the magnifying glass. Quickly directed our users to make sure they are selecting the SharePoint site under "Frequent Sites" rather than a page under Quick Access.

    Dear Hayden Stewart

I'm sorry to hear that you are experiencing this issue with the SharePoint app. The issue you are describing may be related to the version of the SharePoint app that your users are using. I would recommend that you ensure that all users are using the latest version of the SharePoint app.

Additionally, you may want to check the permissions of the users who are experiencing this issue. It is possible that the users who are seeing the "bookmark/archive" icon instead of the search icon do not have the necessary permissions to access the search function.

If the issue persists, you may want to contact Microsoft support for further assistance. They will be able to provide you with more specific guidance on how to resolve this issue.

    Regards,

    Stacey
