Onedrive's downloading speed is tremendously slow

I have the same issue. And, the response from Microsoft might as well have said, it's not their problem. My hunch is they intentionally slow download speeds, so copying and removing your content is substantially more inconvenient for the user, sustainably lowering their cancelation rate. I mean, it is the same reason you can't click 1 button to select everything and then select download, and you have to outsmart the system or individually select every item separately. While, these tactics are rather shady and distasteful, it is their platform so they can make it a slow as they want to. If I am wrong, I hope someone from mircosoft can offer a better explanation. My speed tests say i can download 100x - 200x faster than what onedrive is currently downloading at 1-2mbps.

The conspiracy theory doesn't make you look smart. It is complete and utter nonsense to think MS is throttling download speed to prevent people from cancelling their subscription.

1. Try using a different internet environment or connection. If your mobile phone's internet data is strong and stable, try to check its download speed for OneDrive and other platforms or website. If all other websites are downloading at breakneck speeds and this one isn't how will a "different environment help?
2. Make sure your antivirus software, VPN or firewall is not blocking or slowing down OneDrive. How do you do this? What are the anti virus software that are doing this? How do you determine if a firewall is blocking or slowing down one drive?
3. Try using a different browser or an incognito window to access OneDrive and download the folder. You can also download the folder in smaller batches instead of as a single zip file. Which browsers are known issues? Why would an incognito window help? The suggestion of "smaller batches" is almost an acknowledgement that download speeds are slow. What rate of download should we expect?
4. Check your OneDrive settings and make sure the download rate is not limited. You can find this option in the Network tab of the OneDrive settings.

what a stupid solution, its obviously onedrive that is causing it yet they keep pretending its on our sides. I'm only here bc onedrive was having tons of my files downloaded to their cloud and taken off my computer and then they just mistakenly took me off my family plan so now I'm 50GB over the limits and they wont let any of my emails through. This freaking suuucks, what a terrible service, its projected to take 25HOURS to finish downloading everything back, I literally have 600mb/s download speeds, I could get this done in a couple minutes on any other site >:((

With all due respect, none of that is correct. I'm downloading at over 90 Mbps from Google Drive and 110 Mbps from iCloud, while OneDrive is giving me around 26 KBps. It's absolutely ridiculous. FYI, I've moved over 22 people away from OneDrive to G Drive. Yet, due to lack of knowledge/info, still some of the new clients end up using OneDrive, probably out of bad luck given it's the default cloud software on Windows. Even Dropbox is faster than OneDrive. If that's not shaming your servers, I don't know what does. This is not going to work, and I'll surely continue moving people away from OneDrive until this changes.

ok. i just noticed this issue and fuddled with a couple of things and it seems to have cleared up. Not sure which of the two cleared up the issue for me, but i suspect the latter.

This machine is Win11. On the onedrive icon in the bottom right, right click over it, and in the window that pops up, click on the gear icon at the top and select Settings. In Sync and Backup, scroll down and open up Advanced Settings. Scroll down more and 1) Turn on Limit bandwidth rate and put in 30000 (or higher) as a number. 2) Scroll down to File on demand and push the "download all files" button.

The usual YMMV.
