Onedrive's downloading speed is tremendously slow

Hi everyone,

I'm confused by the fact of Onedrive's downloading speed to be very slow. I'm trying to download my video file from Onedrive and the speed is 1 MB/s only, having internet channel speed 100 mbps. Download speed from competitor's servers (Mega.nz, FREE Plan) is 10 MB/s, which utilizes my whole channel. The funny thing is that the upload speed was 10 MB/s to Onedrive's servers, but the download speed is only 1 MB/s.

I've removed any limits on download speed in Onedrive app, updated the app, changed TCP congestion protocol to BBR, but the result is the same.

Attaching here the pictures:

I'm quite aware of other complaints on Onedrive's download speed, but still hope for a resolution. I've sent my question to Onedrive's tech team, but here I'm posting to:

  1. Get more ideas on how to solve this issue
  2. Attract more attention to the problem

For those with the Slow Download Speed Issue, this solution actually worked for me, it seems that OneDrive by default is capped at 1mbps or something similar to download, changing manually my cap to something huge worked for me.

So just turning on Limit bandwidth rate and putting a big number works.

I tried and did not work.

It's my 5th week and really frustrated with Microsoft Onedrive buggy software due to which lost huge moeny and time.

Microsoft is not doing as already 3 Trillion worth and don't care seems about such major blocker bug.

Its not you. the most i have seen is 5mbps and goggle drive is nearly a 1gig for me. Its them. People have to speak out. MS is exponentially slower than anyone else. I recommend you spread your outrage until they make their service usable.

Yes same problem here i am trying to download my 1gb folder from onedrive and i am using internet downlaod manager(without inernet download manager software any file from onedrive not take speed to download) for downloading and still its taking only 1mbps of my 300mbps plan. i think that first it is converting my folder into zip and then downling it from onedriver server simultaneously so that the download speed is less compared to internet speed. So i request microsoft team please look into this issue that download direct folder from onderive is only taking speed of 1mbps but downlaoding zip file or video file taking full speed. and one more thing without idm downloading software normal downloads not take speed for any king of file from onedrive. Please fix the issue of slow download speed as soon as possible.

Completely agree with everyone here. It is obvious that Microsoft is making download speeds intentionally slow. My guess is to avoid folks from migrating.

Just urges me more to cut them out.
