One drive has messed up my whole PC. How do I get my files back on my PC, and switch off one drive forever. (Please dont answer a question I did not ask)?

One drive asked me if I wanted to back-up my files, it does not back up, it steals them and puts them online and in the process loses lots of them and makes your whole document opening slower.

This is not what I wanted, and its not what it said it would do (back up)

I dont want it, it has messed up my whole PC.

How do I get my files back on my PC, and switch off one drive forever?

Please dont answer a question I did not ask, don't tell me about where they are stored and an online recycle bin, or green ticks or always keep on this device.

I just want to COMPLETELY reverse the operation.

    I do not understand how to reply with the 5 stars scale; when a commentator replies with a strong negative comment that matches my own experience and I reply with a 5 star, is it like a thumbs up for Microsoft or thumbs down for the negative comment against MS?

    I am getting really pissed at MS seeing all the comments from users that match mine and the very poor response from MS since months and months. OneDrive is a Scam I want to get rid of but will I ever find my data?

    Screw OneDrive. Update ran on my computer when I shutdown and it just started syncing my computer. Now ALL my file paths are different which makes about half the things I do on this computer NOT F-ING FUCNTION!!! If I stop the sync all my icons vanish and I can't access anything. THIS SHOULD BE ILLEGAL!!!!!!!

    Onedrive is worse then a virus, tried to turn it off for just my desktop...the thing deleted every file i had and i have to go back to find it...also made duplicate copies in name and file of eveyr file in every folder like (copy_1)...this thing is as close to a virus as I have seen..hell i would prefer a trojan than this thing. Man i miss windows xp every update things get worse

    Hi,

    I have exactly the same issue but when OneDrive migrated (not backed-up) my folders it also backed up my Documents Folder where I had my accounts stored within a sub-folder.

    In the process, where The sub-folders in Documents had further sub-folders, One Drive has uploaded some of the sub-solders and not others which still appear on my local hard drive. This is a right nightmare as I have to go searching all over the place just to find my files.

    Microsoft need to fix this and explain things in easy to understand (for none Technical nerds) like me., without a risk of losing any of the original files or folders if we get it wrong.

    Sorry for not posting this earlier.

    I guess you'll have to color me lucky, because Microsoft auto magically fixed my problem and OneDrive is now working the way I want  it's not automatically backing up files and deleting them on my hard drive!

    So I continue to use it for backup, when I choose to – not when Microsoft doess
