One drive has messed up my whole PC. How do I get my files back on my PC, and switch off one drive forever. (Please dont answer a question I did not ask)?

One drive asked me if I wanted to back-up my files, it does not back up, it steals them and puts them online and in the process loses lots of them and makes your whole document opening slower.

This is not what I wanted, and its not what it said it would do (back up)

I dont want it, it has messed up my whole PC.

How do I get my files back on my PC, and switch off one drive forever?

Please dont answer a question I did not ask, don't tell me about where they are stored and an online recycle bin, or green ticks or always keep on this device.

I just want to COMPLETELY reverse the operation.

    -this Malware issue called "onedrive" has NOT been resolved for me, and I doubt anyone else, my deleted files are still deleted, my missing data is still missing, I did get a couple games to restore,, but only because the publisher had actual backups, not MALWARE labeled as a backup..

    Thank you to everyone for your replies! Funnily enough, this is the first time since I posed the question, I have been able to log back in to respond as Microsoft wouldn’t let me! No surprise there.

    I have never been able to resolve this issue on the PC it happened on. The ONLY way I could resolve this was by buying a new PC. When I did that, I made sure I never accepted the backup to One Drive and kept the files I wanted to keep on my hard drive and those I have always had on One Drive have kept there.

    Mind you! Every. Single. Time. I save a file on my hard drive it asks me to backup to One Drive. I have to say no every single time. Even when opening a file, One Drive wants access to it.

    Frankly, this is disgusting but I have not got into the habit of refusing every time and so far, so good.

    Yes, One Drive is great for those files I need to access everywhere but when it comes to everything else, it is invasive and I am not impressed.

    What you've done sounds good. If you had let Microsoft do things as most of us have, your system would be fubar as well. Onedrive is not a backup, it rearranges and takes control of your pc file system, And it's very easy to disorganize things exponentially when trying to fix the problem.

    I am utterly perturbed at Microsoft OneDrive. This gentleman has posed a very concise question. I hope that it will be answered because I need the same information.

    I want my computer back! I don't want Microsoft OneDrive or the affects it has on personal system, such as backing up my desktop, then making it fubar when I try to restore. I don't want an answer to this in particular; I want it gone from my computer. I don't want any of it. I want an operating system for my computer. My computer.

    I will decide where, when, and how to backup my personal documents.
