Error code 29 when starting O365

I have managed to cause this issue and painfully resolve the issue. Although may not be same for all users worth a quick check if you have date and time set correctly.

First of all I followed the instructions to delete cache, made no difference.

Tried a re-install from being logged into my subscription, made no difference.

Then I cleared all the cookies and this cleared some of the hotmail login info that is normally stored there.

Now when I logged back still was unlicensed and I tried to then authenticate myself in office . Now instead of error 29 it complained about date/time issue instead . I had previously changed my date and time while doing some testing on some batch files. Anyway I went back into date and time settings and set it to automatic, restarted word and PowerPoint and they are all now up and running no error 29 !

the Error 29 could be solved:

1). open command prompt as Admin

2). cd c:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office16\

3). cscript ospp.vbs /inpkey:XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX

I applied an MS 365 update this morning. Did not fix code 29 with pending deactivation warning due on May 28.

Come on MS, help with this! Terrible free 30 day trial of Copilot Pro causing this!!!!

i cant believe 6 months on and this is still an issue. i spent hours with an agent lastnight and got nowhere.

I had this problem, and it was related to the version that MS thought was installed on my computer. The engineer had to remove references to the older versions of MS Office (2016 and 2019) that were registered on my computer.
