How can I reset the password to my child's account?

My children are unable to log into their accounts, and their accounts are linked with with mine in Family Safety. I am able to input all required information to identify their account in the account verification form, but they have not sent emails from their account. Every time I complete an account verification form, it tells me I haven't provided enough information. How can I provide more if they have never sent an email? It is VERY frustrating that as their mother, I am not able to help them reset their password and now their account and personal information is not within my control. Microsoft needs to fix this issue, I have read dozens of posts from frustrated parents about this.

Honestly, whoever is in charge of User experience at Microsoft (and Google for that matter) should be sacked. You are all absolutely useless.

I have an Xbox which I play Minecraft with my child. The question is why does my kids need to have an online account other than for Microsoft to track what they are doing? Why do they need to have an email AT ALL if they are under 10?

For those who are looking for the solution here: it is not related to Family Safety.

Ideally create a Microsoft profile with an email account that is NOT from Microsoft. Ideally use your own email as a secondary for password recovery purposes.

Try to login with your child's email and click forgotten password. if you do have an alternative email set up, it will send a 6 digit code to the secondary email, which you will then be able to access your child's account and then FINALLY change your password.

What is the point of managing a FAMILY account if you can't do bugger all about it is beyond my understanding. Again, useless. Try to do that while the excitement from your child's face turns into boredom as you made this as difficult as possible.

Hope it helps any parents who are still looking for answers.

I have the same issue - can’t rest my child’s password for Minecraft despite being in my Microsoft Family. Sort this garbage out

I also had this issue. I resolved it by going to XBOX live in a web browser and entering my kid's email; the password reset is more direct here and works like all other REASONABLE resets. I would also suggest downloading the Microsoft authenticator to my phone to make recovery easier.
