Documents showing in recent when not opened

I have noticed that every time I open file explorer, the recent list shows a random 10 documents which are stored on onedrive that I haven't accessed (on this or any other device). I am the only one with access to the device and the onedrive folder.

    I'm having this Issue a few Days ago

    I suspected in unauthorized Access attempts

    So, I checked:

    My Microsoft Account >>> Security >>> View my sign-in activity

    I'm usually find Recent activity only under this Session Type title "Unsuccessful sign-in"

    But now I'm noticing this "Automatic Sync" which refer to attempts for connecting the Account to an App. or Service that manages E-Mails, as the title Hint says

    Below this title in it's Details:

    "Type: Unsuccessful sync" & "Look unfamiliar?"

    But when I tried Secure your account Link, I got this "Don’t worry. This sign-in attempt was unsuccessful, so there is no need to change your password"

    These activities Type seems to be happening from a while, according to the Log history

    But it started affecting the Files attribute just recently!

    I think the Bug in this Scenario

    **Not An Answer**

    I have a user with the same bug.

    Within File Explorer the recent files showing are very old (2021), yet show in recent files via Onedrive file path.

    Clearing File Explorer history does not resolve.

    Repairing Office does not resolve.

    All updates have been installed.

    THIS IS A BUG

    Hi, you are suggesting to uncheck "Show recently used files in Quick access", however you are not addressing the concern as to why these files have new modified dates ie. I have not accessed those files for ages yet they are showing being modified recently. This is really concerning, is any unauthorised user accessing our one drive files?

    Hi Rebecca,

    I do not think its just "compare and sync between your computer and the cloud storage." As that function does not view the files, and that function has been around for number of years.
    Could it be that MS, maybe using a AI to crawl through the files for relevant information which it can use to help with "Recommended files", or worse still to train it AI models. I know, this sound "conspiracy theory" and probably not a good ideal to talk about it on the MS platform!!! :0
    I am fan of MS and AI, so not trying to stir, but would be nice to get some better information on this.
