Documents showing in recent when not opened

This happens to me to in both my business and personal MS365 accounts. No one has my password. No one else is trying to access my files. It is a system glitch.

The following worked for me.

1. Open File Explorer.
2. Click on the "ellipsis" or three dots in a row.
3. Click on "Options" and then select "General".
4. In the "Privacy" section, uncheck the "Include account-based insights, recent, favorite, and recommended files" option.
5. Click "Apply" and then "OK" to save the changes.

Same issue facing.

I have noticed that every time I open file explorer, the recent list shows a random 10 documents which are stored on onedrive that I haven't accessed (on this or any other device). I am the only one with access to the device and the onedrive folder.

I am replying to this thread as well. Unchecking "Show files from Office.com" has seemingly resolved the issues with my "Recent Files" selection. I was also dealing with the absurd bug of files from years ago populating my "Recent Files" section. Thank you for sharing this workaround!

Well it's been 6 days since I took the advise of Markz&'s solution and so far so good seems to be listing my recently opened files correctly.
