Documents showing in recent when not opened

I have noticed that every time I open file explorer, the recent list shows a random 10 documents which are stored on onedrive that I haven't accessed (on this or any other device). I am the only one with access to the device and the onedrive folder.

    The following worked for me.

    1. Open File Explorer.
    2. Click on the "ellipsis" or three dots in a row.
    3. Click on "Options" and then select "General".
    4. In the "Privacy" section, uncheck the "Include account-based insights, recent, favorite, and recommended files" option.
    5. Click "Apply" and then "OK" to save the changes.

    I don't have that option "include account-based insights, recent, favorite, and recommended files"

    I only have Show files from office.com.

    It appears that some of the files shows in recent even if you have not access the files. Let us check and see on what we can do to help resolve your concern in a timely manner.

    This issue may occur if the "Show recently used files in Quick access" option is enabled in File Explorer settings. To disable this option, please follow these steps:

    1. Open File Explorer.
    2. Click on the "View" tab in the ribbon.
    3. Click on "Options" and then select "Change folder and search options".
    4. In the "Privacy" section, uncheck the "Show recently used files in Quick access" option.
    5. Click "Apply" and then "OK" to save the changes.

    This should prevent the random documents from appearing in the recent list. If the issue persists, please let me know and we can explore other troubleshooting steps.

    I share your concerns. Having read through all the replies, my concern is that my files are being accessed by the ‘A I copilot’ in Microsoft edge, in order to learn about me. But I am also a writer and I’m concerned about retaining my intellectual property, and that of friends who share their work with me. I will try disabling the ‘co- pilot’ to see if this helps.
