Lost several day's worth of work in an Excel file?

SAME HERE!! Happened just now

Same happened to me. I have lost three years of data that were stored on MS Onedrive. I opened the file this morning and data stored in this file over three years are no longer there. I accessed this file a few days ago and now am am completely lost at sea and without a compass. I have already tried all the steps previously mentioned but without any success.

The idea to use a paid cloud facility was not to have this issue, now it seems that this is not the case.

I had this same exact thing happen to me today! No previous versions available, nothing in the recycle bin. The only thing that ended up saving me was the fact that I had sent my boss a copy of my log, and I could restore it from there. Are you updating Microsoft products right now? Because I’ve never had so much trouble with these applications before. I’ve restarted my computer, logged out and back in and still it’s been giving me problems. Please help.

I thought I was hacked? And a bizarre hack it is - rolling back two VERY important excel docs to a couple weeks ago - losing two weeks of financial record keeping for my home and business . . . a fracking NIGHTMARE to recreate - my new life

AND none of the solutions worked - as though I didn't save the document ever day for two weeks AND my recycle bin is empty???

But reading this post thread makes me feel better. This is just another idiot-wind Microsoft mandatory update in which they/you "fix" things that weren't broken and break things that were working well.

Bill Gates used "catch and kill" to buy off all his competitors and this is what we have left -

I'm grateful that I was not hacked, but Microsoft is its own kind of hacker - fubaring our lives and then lying about it.

The same thing just happened to me. I had updated a spreadsheet all week last week, saving daily (it was my time sheet after all) and logging in today all the data from last week was gone. Thankfully I had a backup from 3/12/24 which had some data in it - but that data was gone from the sheet on open along with ALL the data from saves last week. This was locally saved on the HDD (have had problems like this in the past with One Drive and just started saving to the HDD instead). Since I had a backup of the file, I know that Excel did actually save the document last week which it seems to have lost those changes now. That backup was taken by our backup software.

I went through the steps to see any unsaved workbooks (despite having saved and opened this document all last week while updating it) - there were no unsaved workbooks. There is no version history either.

So yes, I would also like to know why all my saved work is gone today.

I think we are all far beyond that. The file itself is gone, NOT the formatting. Please read all responses before commenting here. The formatting really has zero relevance whatsoever.
