Hello,
for a couple of days or maybe even weeks I noticed that in my recent files list in Windows Explorer several files appear which I did not actively open. At this moments there are 13 of these files in my list. All of these files seem to be on OneDrive.
This concerns me in two different ways:
Security: have the files been "touched" by some villaineous software, or have they just been checked routinely by Windows and its components?
Usability: In the recent files list are more then 50 percent of files which I did not work on and which will block my view on the files I did open.
I am hoping for advise.

Has anyone tried unchecking "Include accoutn-based insights, recent, favorite...." under folder options of Home?
Open File explorer > click home > click the "..." > go to options > uncheck Include account-based insights...".
I am experiencing the same issue and a co-worker too.
Neither of us have 'another device' with the same account touching those files.
Due to the fact that this phony file access is still happening and there is no definitive answer on what is going on, I actually removed my most sensitive files from OneDrive and put them on an external drive until this is resolved. I still think this might be a malicious bug that Microsoft hasn't been able to fix yet. Better safe than sorry.
Just ducking in to share that I am also having this issue as well as enabling notifications so I can monitor. Files are showing to be accessed while I was actively troubleshooting the issue and am 100% sure I did not touch the files that Windows claims that I opened.
This was definitely a security spook until I found this article. As others have said, it appears to just be some kind of issue where OneDrive marks the files are recently accessed any time it touches them without my intervention.
I have found when I disconnect from the internet that the files stop being self-accessed. Makes me wonder if it is a virus sending copies of our files to the bad guys when connected. This all started when a new version of Edge 120.0.2210.61 was installed but don't know if that was just a coincidence,
