I want to sue Microsoft -- OneDrive has hijacked all my local files and there's no way to retreive it!!!!

Microsoft is using deceptive tactics to hold our content hostage. I wasn't given any intimation on how OneDrive would without my permission take hold of my folders and content and not release it back to me unless I took their subscription account to access them. Even though I have paid for a yearly subscription, I still am not able to restore back all my content to my local storage. Though the sum of amount they've received isn't much, the value of my content is too high for me. I do not want them on OneDrive, I want them locally on my computer and for me to access, store, or transfer per my discretion.

When they apply this policy at a systemic level where all Windows users are subjected to it, suddenly the under $20 annual fee obviously becomes a much greater sum. It is something that must be attacked and resented publicly. A class action law suit is necessary when companies begin to act so callously.

Hi, Thanks. I l already change the settings in my OneDrive App, so the syncing is stopped (or it should be). But like I say, when I tried to see this unsolicited message from windows 11, somehow, it triggered the syncing again, and moved all my Pictures from my Windows system dir, to the OneDrive dir again.

Do you work in Microsoft? I hope I can work with someone who can be responsible for what happened to the poor users of Windows.

I don't think for one minute that Microsoft reputation is sacrificed by the fiasco of CrowdStrike. It's already very bad.

For your information, the OneNote in my company PC, it can't do string search correctly!!!

No, I don't work for Microsoft. You can contact support, but I don't think they will be able to help. You just need to avoid OneDrive if you don't want to use it.

I'm happy to know I'm not alone. I've been using OneDrive for a good while, and it was just fine, until 3 days ago when it hijacked everything from my PC. So I logged on to my Laptop and was happy to see it hadn't happened there. But wait! The next time I logon, the same has happened to my laptop. I'm in the process of moving everything to Carbonite, which will take a significant amount of time. Then I will move them to my PC under a different drive, and pray they stay safe. I do have Carbonite set to continuously back up.

I just hope there is a way to get out of the clutches of OneDrive.

I HATE MICROSOFT. Count me in on any lawsuit. Bill Gates can rot in hell.

A friendly advice. Even though this is a forum under microsoft.com, it seems MSFT send no one to monitor or service these complaints. Only volunteers. I doubt if they are volunteers or employees, beacuse if you are employee you are more responsible for what happens. Volunteer gives you a little hint of sympathy you will be thankful for it....
I'd suggest you express your frustration on reddit.com. It's a good place to rant on all kinds of topics!

Thanks. I had complained on Reddit a long time ago. Nothing helps really.

   I have theories about the kind of people who work in Silicon Valley:  autistic, and therefore unable to fathom how normal humans function.  They do not understand that Less is More. The more complicated the better they like it.  Computers are more for games to them rather than for real life function.  ( I looked up "Silicon valley, autistic" and my suspicions were confirmed.  Yes, I realize they can't help their condition, but they are ruining people's lives, having been put in the position of "developers"). 

And then there is the person who has the final say before all these changes go into production = also someone with zero knowledge or care for what users want.   I don't ever remember being asked by Microsoft what changes I would like to Word, for instance.  Or in present day, whether I wanted to have all my stuff stolen and put in the Cloud the minute I hitched up my new desktop. 

Today as i write this, l find all of my stuff has suddenly been marked with the double arrow and i can't get anything to function properly and I don't know how to get rid of it.  These things happen when you just hit a single wrong key and you don't know what you did.  I am also unable to get screen shots to make themselves known.  

  Yes I constantly ask for remedies and i get a multitide of fixes that are as complicated as the original problem, and they don't work anyway.

 This is the last I will be complaining on line,   I'm outta here.
