A Microsoft file hosting and synchronization service.
Ok. Let me updated my situation. I finally got control of the situation (kind of) several days after I posted my first message.
I was able to stop syncing my PC to the OneDrive, and then I copy over my files from the OneDrive/ directory, which is under Max Kiang/OneDrive/, I believe it's a physical location on my hard drive, which will be synced to the OneDrive on the cloud.
Because I have limited disk space, I can't just copy the whole directory over (I put Pictures/, Documents/ and Videos/ on OneDrive), and I need to copy them over in small chunks, then remove the same files under the OneDrive/ folder. It took some effort and concentration to do that! I definitely had cold sweat in the process.
Then everything seems to be fine. I have stopped the OneDrive Subscription, and I have stopped the sync between my OneDrive and the cloud. Yes?
No!!! About a few days ago, I think it's July 2nd, I noticed I got a message on my PC, asking me if I want to "resync" with oneDriver. I was mad and worried, I already showed my intention, why Microsoft kept on asking this? Anyway, when I decided to take a look at the details, the message was gone, and I click the lower right corner icon where the message was generated, and I got it back.
When I started to look at the message, trying to find how to disable and say "Thanks, and no Thanks!!!", then message disappeared again!!
Immediately, my home PC began to churn, the HD make big noise, apparently doing something. but there' s no message to show what's going on. I had no clue! I reluctantly left it along, and worked on my other PC (I was working from home, and needs to go back and work on my company PC).
After one hour, the home PC noise is gone, everything is quiet. I began to survey for damage. And to my horror, the empty OneDrive/ directy is full again, the old files are coming back!!!
Then I go to my physical directories on my PC, I found my Documents/ dir is fine. But my Pictures/ directory is all empty, it still has all the sub-directories, but they are all empty!!!
I go back to the OneDrive/ folder, then I found the reason. It seem the OneDrive/Documents/ folder only contain softlink to the OneDrive folder in Microsoft's server. but the OneDriver/Pictures/ folder has the physical files in it, and their symbol indicates they are waiting to be synced!! What the hell are you doing, Microsoft?????
