I want to sue Microsoft -- OneDrive has hijacked all my local files and there's no way to retreive it!!!!

Microsoft is using deceptive tactics to hold our content hostage. I wasn't given any intimation on how OneDrive would without my permission take hold of my folders and content and not release it back to me unless I took their subscription account to access them. Even though I have paid for a yearly subscription, I still am not able to restore back all my content to my local storage. Though the sum of amount they've received isn't much, the value of my content is too high for me. I do not want them on OneDrive, I want them locally on my computer and for me to access, store, or transfer per my discretion.

When they apply this policy at a systemic level where all Windows users are subjected to it, suddenly the under $20 annual fee obviously becomes a much greater sum. It is something that must be attacked and resented publicly. A class action law suit is necessary when companies begin to act so callously.

    Don't be ridiculous. There isn't a place on the machine that OneDrive can't reach. It should never have reached any personal data without permission in the first place. Putting my personal information in your cloud without my express permission is nothing but theft. Most data breaches aren't against single users, they are against corporations. The cloud is nothing but other people's computers. I want my data on MY computer. ONLY.

    You can try turning off the backup at "Manage Backup" in the OneDrive settings. If that doesn't suffice then put your data in places that OneDrive can't possibly reach. The vulnerable places are Desktop, Documents, Pictures, Music, Videos, and the OneDrive folder located at C:\Users\username\OneDrive. So avoid those places for sensitive and large volumes of data.

    Partition your drive and assign it a drive letter other than C drive, which OneDrive uses. You can also use an external drive.

    Hi All,

    I want to sue this Bastards and New Wrold robbers.These **** are not only stealing our data but also causing real harm in every possible way..

    1. The time you spent in fixing or getting back your own data.
    2. If you are a professional - use other applications, that starts using the HOME or Documents or other folders, on one drive without anyones permission. You lose work, data, time.. and may never recover.

    I have gone to an extent to buy a new laptop, reconfigured everything from scratch making sure no Onedrive is there. However, these robbers and bastards have made it in such a way that it will find its way. You will do updates or something and one day you realise that.. **** IS BACK TO SCREW YOU.

    **** YOU MICROSOFT and all you liars sitting in this company.

    This is unacceptable. Your suggestion is to late. There should have been a notice letting users know Onedrive is activated and installed. There should have been a noticed to indicate what would happen if users disabled this app. It should have NEVER deleted anything from the local computer. You could have just removed the users items from the Cloud!

    Based on this thread, many of us do not want our personal stuff in the cloud and the fact Microsoft installed this without notifying users is suspicious. Microsoft was once a consumer friendly and careful company. What happened!!!

    Some new items that were not backed up were removed.

    Please escalate this to the leadership who I hope care about their consumers and remove that option from the default install of Windows and leave it as optional!!!
