I want to sue Microsoft -- OneDrive has hijacked all my local files and there's no way to retreive it!!!!

Microsoft is using deceptive tactics to hold our content hostage. I wasn't given any intimation on how OneDrive would without my permission take hold of my folders and content and not release it back to me unless I took their subscription account to access them. Even though I have paid for a yearly subscription, I still am not able to restore back all my content to my local storage. Though the sum of amount they've received isn't much, the value of my content is too high for me. I do not want them on OneDrive, I want them locally on my computer and for me to access, store, or transfer per my discretion.

When they apply this policy at a systemic level where all Windows users are subjected to it, suddenly the under $20 annual fee obviously becomes a much greater sum. It is something that must be attacked and resented publicly. A class action law suit is necessary when companies begin to act so callously.

It is like their tech support referring to themselves as an advocate, a legal term. I asked this know nothing professional shader cant understand any question I asked her if they had a law degree if they were told by Microsoft to refer to themselve as an Advocate instead of Tech Support. All she wanted was my name, address etc. Why did she need this, all I want is my files back but all they want to do is sell me a subscription for safety. Safety right, is that why they had my name and credit card info when I had never given it to them. Guess Windows is spyware too now. Hey Microsoft if you take something that isnt yours without that persons permission then suggest you subscribe to a service that person doesnt need to get back the files you took you are committing multiple crimes including extortion and fraud. And theft too. Why delete my files at all from my computer it is supposed to be a back-up service, my hardrive is over 265 gb, plenty of space. What evil deception.

I have had 7 months of this, when my desktop blew up in spite of being on a surge protector, and had to buy another Dell (with Windows 11 pre-installed) and which proceeded to steal without my permission, all my stuff and put it in the **** cloud.

I thought about the people who"design" this stuff. Assumed that they were mostly autistic. Which is genetic, can't be helped. Looked it up. I was right. Silicon Valley is mostly autistic (and it even said they are marrying each other and producing more!)

Are most people in Silicon Valley autistic? - Search (bing.com)

Fine. Just don't let them mess with my life. Their problem is that they cannot relate to other people. They are more like AI robots. They do not understand the concept of Less is More or Occam's Razor. The more complex the better, they love it. And this DESTROYS our ability to work. There is no normal human making judgements as to what people want. Over the years they have never asked me what improvements or changes I would like. It's so exciting to them that you can do something 10 different complex ways. Its absolutely cluttered with extraneous junk now that they advertise as delightful "choices".

Since last night, the latest thing is that I have lost Paint 3D which I use all the time because I am an artist/writer . This is killing me and stopping me from making a living.

I live in Silicon valley, and I know several Microsoft employees (mostly engineers). I think they know their problem. But as long as the company keeps on making big profit, their stock value keep on rising, they are not going to rock the boat.

If we want send them a notice they can understand, we need to find a way to drag down MSFT's stock price.

I signed on to OneDrive in Feb 2024 (due to some misunderstanding that it will be a nice backup tool), it has been a nightmare ever since. I can't find any help, the google searches gave me incomplete and conflicting solution, and no official solution on how to safely uninstall OneDrive and return all my data back to me.

    It's crazy!

At one point, I thought I can go to the Microsoft store in our neighborhood shopping mall (Valley Fair), but it's closed! They know how bad their products are, and they don't want to be overwhelmed by the customers complaining in person.
Apple at least have its Apple stores that can help out customers, while it has its own set of big-tech issues...

    Hello Tom,

I have the same issue. I lost hundreds of documents, clients' files, tax files, folders are there and all are empty... The result of 10 + years of accounting work! I am devastated! I was trying to get help from their support but they just recommended to check my recycling folder and send them a list of missing documents! I have lost hundreds of them, I can't remember the names of those documents.

I am in Canada. Please count me in if you will be moving forward with the lawsuit.
