When I try to unsync any folder, this error message appears:

"The folder you tried to unselect contains the windows documents folder, which is an important folder in windows and is currently pointed to Onedrive"

This is a new thing that started happening over the weekend, as I use OneDrive on a daily basis.

Rebuilding all the folders and subdirectories are not an option since they are time-consuming and there is not enough space on my local drive (which is why I am using OneDrive and turning folders on and off).

Microsoft, please sort this out.

    With my video editor I save my projects as a "portable" project so that all my project files are located in a single folder that I can move anywhere.

    Having files scattered all over the place will cause you to lose files from the project.

    If you uncheck "Make all files available" and then recheck everything except what you don't want checked might work but awkward.

    Moving folders around and renaming them wouldn't work because of the way links work in the Adobe Creative Suite.

    I'd prefer it if Microsoft just fixes the issue properly and restore OneDrive to what it was.

    Messing up some backend settings periodically and then asking users to restructure their way of working instead of making repairs is not the kind of service customers should- or would - pay for.

    If you remove the folder from the Documents folder but keep it in OneDrive then you can uncheck it.

    Better yet, you could name the folder "Inactive projects" and instead of unchecking it just right click it and select "Free up space".

    But if you use the Free up space you won't need to remove the folder from the Documents folder.

    Thank you. This is definitely a new thing because I check and uncheck these folders on a regular basis for years.

    The error message only started appearing a few days ago, and if you Google it there are other users with the same problem just in the last few days.

    Somebody at Microsoft messed something up over the weekend.
