OneNote 365 Not Displaying TABS LAYOUT > VERTICAL TABS Option

Hi Support,

I installed the latest version of Office 365 / Microsoft 365 and while searching online says to go to VIEW > TABS LAYOUT > VERTICAL TABS to make OneNote display the tabs vertical as opposed to horizontal; however, when I click on VIEW, I don't see this option and only see the follow image below.

I tried to go to FILE > OPTIONS > DISPLAY to see if I could customize the RIBBON and don't see this option.

Any advice is very much appreciated.

Dear Sonny,

It seems that you are talking about the feature mentioned in New Layout Options for OneNote on Windows are coming soon (microsoft.com). I'm afraid that the feature hasn't been released to all version number of the OneNote application. I suggest you keep close eyes on the updates of the OneNote application and wait for the feature in your environment.

As a workaround, you can click on the notebook tab>click on Pin Notebook Pane to Side currently.

    Just updated and I now have "Microsoft® OneNote® for Microsoft 365 MSO (Version 2304 Build 16.0.16327.20302) 64-bit" too, but no vertical tabs option. Very puzzling.

    Dear TheAndyMac and Blake_305,

    The feature may haven't been released to each channel of the OneNote applications. So all of you may not have fully got the feature in your OneNote application.

    Sorry for that we may have no further information about the full roll-out date.

    Here are some ways you may get the further information.

    1. Keep close eyes on some Microsoft released blogs for the latest information of the feature.
    2. Contact the administrator if you aren't the administrator and let him follow the steps in Get support - Microsoft 365 admin | Microsoft Learn to open a support ticket to our related team to see if they have some further information.

    Cliff, the answers you have been giving in this community Q and A are not really worth your effort in typing them.

    I guess you have some communication channel with Microsoft? Can you not use that communication channel to get an answer the the question that everyone is asking? Someone in Microsoft's dev/deployment team?

    By the way I did open a MS support ticket on this question and the answer I got from the support worker was about the same as if I had asked my grandmother, i.e. I am sorry I have no idea.

    Pretty useless.

    You are unfair to Cliff. New features have to be distributed to hundreds of millions of users all over the world while respecting even resource utilization. I am sure that there are algorithms for this that do not allow predicting with just such certainty when a particular feature will be available to a very specific user. The whole thing is the consequence of the subscription model, which you have also chosen.
