OneNote 365 Not Displaying TABS LAYOUT > VERTICAL TABS Option

Hi Support,

I installed the latest version of Office 365 / Microsoft 365 and while searching online says to go to VIEW > TABS LAYOUT > VERTICAL TABS to make OneNote display the tabs vertical as opposed to horizontal; however, when I click on VIEW, I don't see this option and only see the follow image below.

I tried to go to FILE > OPTIONS > DISPLAY to see if I could customize the RIBBON and don't see this option.

Any advice is very much appreciated.

Dear Sonny,

It seems that you are talking about the feature mentioned in New Layout Options for OneNote on Windows are coming soon (microsoft.com). I'm afraid that the feature hasn't been released to all version number of the OneNote application. I suggest you keep close eyes on the updates of the OneNote application and wait for the feature in your environment.

As a workaround, you can click on the notebook tab>click on Pin Notebook Pane to Side currently.

    While the new Table Layout option is added, you can switch the Pages to the left side by going to File --> Options --> Display --> Move Page list to the left option.

    Hello All,

    In case the Horizontal layout tab is missing in View section, follow the below steps to get the same result.

    1. For bringing notebooks to the left pane - click on the small drop-down icon beside Name@Notebook, and pin the notebook. This will set all the notebooks to left.
    2. For bringing the pages to left as well -
      • Click on File, top left of your screen
      • Click Options, bottom left on the new screen
      • Click on Display, on the left navigation pane of the pop-up window
      • Check the option - Show notebook list on the left

    This works in Microsoft 365 desktop app. For the web version it's left aligned anyways

    Hi Bernd,

    I don't think am being unfair at all.

    If you can go an app store and download an app - exactly the same app, at exactly the same stage of development that everyone has, anywhere in the world, (thanks to a thing called the WORLD wide web), they why on earth can't MS issue a software update, which, even if automatic updates are time scheduled, can be manually updated by simply using the 'Update' function via any MS 365 app.

    Either an app update is released to the public, or it isn't. Why would you deliberately keep multiple versions of the same app in circulation at different times?

    Just downloaded the update where this appears to be deployed, and it works on 3 of the 4 PCs, but does not show on one of them. Confused!

    Is there a registry change or another enablement package needed to enable this, as would like to be 100% consistent across all PCs.
