OneNote 365 Not Displaying TABS LAYOUT > VERTICAL TABS Option

Hi Support,

I installed the latest version of Office 365 / Microsoft 365 and while searching online says to go to VIEW > TABS LAYOUT > VERTICAL TABS to make OneNote display the tabs vertical as opposed to horizontal; however, when I click on VIEW, I don't see this option and only see the follow image below.

I tried to go to FILE > OPTIONS > DISPLAY to see if I could customize the RIBBON and don't see this option.

Any advice is very much appreciated.

Dear Sonny,

It seems that you are talking about the feature mentioned in New Layout Options for OneNote on Windows are coming soon (microsoft.com). I'm afraid that the feature hasn't been released to all version number of the OneNote application. I suggest you keep close eyes on the updates of the OneNote application and wait for the feature in your environment.

As a workaround, you can click on the notebook tab>click on Pin Notebook Pane to Side currently.

    has it been reversed? I had this functionality last week and loved it - opened OneNote today and it has gone - hate this old layout so will need to use something else other than OneNote.

    So I don't get it. Everything I have read has said the feature is now generally available on OneNote Version 2302 Build 16124.20000 or later. After updating today, I am now running version 2302 Build 16130.20332. And yet, no vertical tab option.

    This is on Windows 10 Pro 21H2 build 19044.2728

    Hi Moderator, what does 'fully released' mean. Surely an update is either released, or it isn't.

    If everyone is screaming to have Books, Sections and Pages vertically displayed from left to right, which is the way non-Arab speakers read, i.e. the way most of the world reads, then why oh why is Microsoft messing everyone around, and who had the unhelpful idea to start messing with the layout in the first place?

    Okay, that is a useful workaround and has removed a good deal of frustration. Have to say I am really surprised that anyone at MS would thing that horizontal section layouts were the optimum and should be the default in the first place. It is now 05/20/2023 and the "soon to come" feature of File\Option\Horizontal has not yet arrived. How long does it take to roll-out?
