How to exclude folders with pics appearing in the photo gallery

How do I exclude folders from appearing in the Photo Gallery of onedrive Android?

The photo gallery of onedrive Android is showing all photos in my onedrive. I believe the Photo Gallery should limit to only the photos in the Pictures folder, same as the online version, but this is not what is happening.

This means it is showing a lot unwanted pics by default in the photo gallery, such as wallpapers, documents pics or even private medical photos that should never appear in the default photo gallery.

Yes, there is a filter in the Photo Gallery to only show "Pictures folders", and this works. However the filter is not sticky, this means every time I open the app it reverts back to show everything, so if I have people around when I open the Photo Gallery, I never know what private photos are going to show up.

I have tried using the ".nomedia" file to exclude folders, but no luck.

    Yes, I can confirm the "Pictures Folder" filter is in the Android version. Is this a new option?

    It is indeed better than nothing, at least it filters a lot of the noise.

    What is annoying is that every time you open the app it reverts back to the "All folders" option (I’d love anybody at Microsoft to please explain why this is desirable!).

    So this means that if you happen to have sensitive medical images (or similar) anywhere in OneDrive and forget to apply the filter, these will still appear in your photos gallery.

    I have some backups from old disks of friends... all their foto's appear on my timeline.

    I ended up zipping them all into a password protected zip... what a nightmare.

    Exactly this!

    This is being ignored intentionally i feel!

    I have searched and tried everything to exclude folders from "on this day" notifications and to simply exclude the content from some folders from ever showing in photos but i never succeeded.

    I have some private folders with nude gifts and fun stuff that keep showing when i get "on this day" suggestion. Its really annoying that its mixed with family pictures like that.

    Its a big issue to be honest in personal privacy. If i was in US i would actually sue Microsoft for this.

    Also the setting don't work!!!

    Same issue here. This is a problem reported over many years and MS and have still not implemented this.

    We need to be able to exclude certain folders from appearing in the Photos tab in the app (I'm using the iOS app). Currently it shows everything that is stored in OneDrive which is not desired.

    It's a very simple requirement.

    Please can the MS bots not auto-respond with some totally unrelated MS support article and just get a Product Manager to prioritize it?
