How to exclude folders with pics appearing in the photo gallery

How do I exclude folders from appearing in the Photo Gallery of onedrive Android?

The photo gallery of onedrive Android is showing all photos in my onedrive. I believe the Photo Gallery should limit to only the photos in the Pictures folder, same as the online version, but this is not what is happening.

This means it is showing a lot unwanted pics by default in the photo gallery, such as wallpapers, documents pics or even private medical photos that should never appear in the default photo gallery.

Yes, there is a filter in the Photo Gallery to only show "Pictures folders", and this works. However the filter is not sticky, this means every time I open the app it reverts back to show everything, so if I have people around when I open the Photo Gallery, I never know what private photos are going to show up.

I have tried using the ".nomedia" file to exclude folders, but no luck.

    I just called Microsoft tech support yesterday, got escalated to a supervisor, and after a frustrating fifteen minutes trying to explain I wasn't asking about sync (you get the impression none of these support people have ever used OneDrive - I had to describe the interface to her over the phone) was told this feature does not exist.

    I submitted a feature request. I recommend doing the same.

    Also, it's not just the OneDrive app on Android. The Photos feature on the web (photos.onedrive.com) has the same behavior.

    p.s. Olivia: To further clarify we're talking about being able to exclude any folder from Gallery, including folders synced from Windows. The suggestion to look for a "camera upload" setting indicated you thought we were just talking about folders on the phone.

    with all due respect. If you go through the forum threads generated about this issue, you will find that this has been requested and been complained about for quite a long time. This is not something that only just came up.

    Instead of telling people how great Microsoft is and spamming your devs with further requests over years about the same thing, I think it would be helpful if someone from this forum, i.e. YOU, goes back to the developers, ask them why this feature request has been ignored - or - why the many forum threads about this issue have been ignored for so long and report back to us, telling us what is going on there.

    This is quite honestly one of the most frustrating "support" forums I have had to deal with in a long time. I might as well talk to Clippy the old Office Assistant hoping for a better outcome...

    As a new One Drive user have a similar problem. Here's my use case:

    1. I've got hundreds of images associated with work projects that I do not want to see when I click on Photos in OneDrive.
    2. For our purposes, just assume all the work-related images that I do NOT want to see are under C:\users\Patrick\Work\
    3. I need to know the OneDrive feature that allows me to exclude all photos under C:\users\Patrick\Work\

    Is Microsoft saying that, as a multi-billion dollar company with thousands of OneDrive customers, that this very simple piece of functionality does not exist? (That's what I'm getting from this thread.)
