How to exclude folders with pics appearing in the photo gallery

This is symptomatic with so many Microsoft products over the past three or four years. They release products that on the surface look feature rich but once you start using them you realise they are missing fundamental and basic functionality. Whats worse is they often force you to "update" to their new versions which are stripped down versions of the originals but with a new lick of paint. Look at the office products, the decimation of OneNote, the new Outlook app completely removing client side rules, the new Teams app that keeps losing messages. Lets not even get started with their licence changes for things like PowerBI. They wont listen; they appear to have grown extra mouths and lost their ears.

Even these forums are a complete joke nowadays. You are better searching Reddit than the official copy and paste responses from the admins on here. More often than not the "solution" provided has no relevance to the issue. This thread is a prime example of that. Do the mods get karma per response or something? Anyway rant over... Have subscribed to this thread but wont be holding my breath for an actual solution.

Same issue here. This is a problem reported over many years and MS and have still not implemented this.

We need to be able to exclude certain folders from appearing in the Photos tab in the app (I'm using the iOS app). Currently it shows everything that is stored in OneDrive which is not desired.

It's a very simple requirement.

Please can the MS bots not auto-respond with some totally unrelated MS support article and just get a Product Manager to prioritize it?

Yes, I can confirm the "Pictures Folder" filter is in the Android version. Is this a new option?

It is indeed better than nothing, at least it filters a lot of the noise.

What is annoying is that every time you open the app it reverts back to the "All folders" option (I’d love anybody at Microsoft to please explain why this is desirable!).

So this means that if you happen to have sensitive medical images (or similar) anywhere in OneDrive and forget to apply the filter, these will still appear in your photos gallery.

I have the same problem. It is very strange that photos from work folders appear even in memories. Icons, thumbnails, web projects images, etc. There should only be camera roll photos. It makes perfect sense, which is why I'm surprised that no one at Microsoft has figured it out. None of them use it?

I just encountered the same problem, but in a worse way:

I am involved in astrophotography, so I have folders with hundreds of images of the same subject taken sequentially at night and also many calibration images (which at a glance look just black or gray). Hundreds of images that, after calibration and processing, become one astronomical image.

I have started backing up even my precious original folder on OneDrive, but this way the Photo Gallery becomes useless, until I can choose the folders that feed the Photo Gallery.

All the photos on my phone are mixed with hundreds of images not to look at, but to work with.

I think I will have to switch to some other oncloud storage.
