I can't get this to work. I get the same problem on two machines (package error when trying to load it).
The other issue is that when installing OneDrive, it automatically runs the standalone updater as part of the install and updates to the newer version that is causing the problem.
I tried that already, same issue for me.

Trying all the things with reinstalling/clearing caches/clearing credentials etc - nothing helped.
Eventually opened a ticket for MS support - and they just suggested to upgrade 10.15.7 to 11.0 or higher (though Catalina is not declared as unsupported for OneDrive)... Also support did not clearly answer my question whether OneDrive does autoupgrade silently behind the scene or not (I'm pretty sure it does, since I usually disable autoupdate for all software, and I did not upgrade OneDrive manually in recent months. Nevertheless, on April 7th OneDrive just stopped to work) .
Few years ago, when I was choosing between paid plans of OneDrive/iCloud/GoogleDrive/Box.Net/DropBox/etc , the most important thing for me was not a price, but seamless integration of cloud storage with local filesystem. Web access and workarounds like WebDAV is not an option for many reasons... And now the killing feature which I pay for, is not working. Very frustrating experience...
For a paid service...this is unbelievable and unacceptable; I suppose $79/yr isn't much so you get what you pay for. OneDrive app has worked for a few years now without issue. However lately syncing has been very slow which is why I installed the latest version. MS solution is to upgrade the OS is ridiculous?! There was also no warning regarding EOL - if that is how this app is handled than silent upgrade shouldn't be allowed. Why not just provide an older version that works with Catalina?! The official OneDrive documentation states any OS older than 10.14 is no longer supported, not 10.15:
We no longer update or allow new installations of OneDrive on macOS versions older than 10.14*. In order to enable OneDrive updates and new installations, we recommend updating to macOS 11.0 or newer.*
My 365 is coming up for renewal...I'm likely going to cancel and look at other options. Google is looking like a pretty good paid option for software (Google Docs, Google Sheets...all free) plus their cloud service is hands-down superior than OneDrive. In fact, I've had issues when I've tried uploading (sharing) files to OneDrive via mobile. OD would get part way and sit for several minutes before completing. Usually I just end up uploading to Google Drive and it is completed almost instantly. There have been times I've finished uploading and OneDrive is still hasn't made progress. In terms of the software aspect, I'd prefer to find an alternative which uses the old one-time purchase license.
MS no longer king supreme (has not been for a while) for Documentation and Spreadsheets; Google has come a long way. I never use OneNote or PowerPoint. Outlook, I can access online via a browser or use Apple Mail. Subscription-based software is a joke. I understand for something that is actually service - cloud services, but not for software. Essentially, we're renting software. Apparently, MS has headed with way with Windows 11. End users actually don't own the OS. I used to use Adobe for many years then eventually, was forced to use subscription as the industry moved forward.
I have a local 1TB backup...and I'll just use that as my main backup instead of OneDrive, which I use in addition to. Going old school! I've had my external drive since 2012 - and it still works 100%! However, I do understand there are many businesses depend on the cloud method. Cloud does offer a certain added convenience. BTW, the latest version of Microsoft 365 and Office (16.71.23031200) are no longer compatible with Catalina 10.15.7.
